Federal missions

So I finally found some federal missions. They were all - buy us something and bring it to us. I bought for them some legal things and gave it to them. Then they wanted from me personal weapons which are prohibited.... logic? non...

Dear Frontier, tell me one reason why missions like this one are in the game. Why do you want me to do illegal things when I work for the GOOD GUYS. I want to be their pilot, their scout, their cargo transporter. I don't want to be lawless smuggler who sells illegal weapons to corrupted Federal officers.

Add meaningful missions for Federation for God's sake. I want just that Sol system permit to see the Earth and Mars and I am out of all this Federal poop :(

P.S. Sorry for the criticism, but you obviously have some difficulties designing interesting missions. You should try out some games to get the inspiration. It really isn't that hard.

Because smuggling is a skill you need to learn. To progress to the higher rankings you need to master all aspects of the game.

I would suggest learning these things using the standard missions fist, in independent systems.

Ok, I will edit the first post just for you to realise what is this topic about.
I really love arrogant people like you, Ghostile.

The Federation are a government. Maybe you are lucky enough to live in a country where the government has never broken any of it's own laws, or naive enough to believe so, but trust me sometimes they just need to push the boundaries in order to get something done. You can help them or walk away according to your own morals.

You don't work for the "good guys" because there aren't any good guys.

You are looking for a shortcut to promotion, and the best way to do this is to get your corrupt superiors what others won't or can't.

that is not what i was asking about.... federals shouldn't want their soldiers to do illegal work... do you get it?

What sort of fantasy utopia were you raised in that you could possibly be so naive? It sure as hell couldn't have been the Federation.

I'm an up and coming Lt. Commander in Federation Navy, a repeatedly field promoted senior officer, who was a recruit a week ago. I have smuggled narcotics and illicit weapons. I have couriered secret orders and facilitated cover-ups. I have been a party to extrajudicial purges as the trigger man! The Federation needs people like me if it hopes to survive.

If you can't handle this reality, and don't want to work a desk job in some backwater cesspool for five years to see your next promotion, you may want to consider a different line of work.

OP is either too young, too delusional, or too idealist to grasp the reality of politics, I guess. Live a few good years in the real world and you'll see plenty of examples of the "good guys" being total douches and destroying whoever opposes them.

Ok, so I will bring them illegal goods and at my arrival they will scan me and kill me. That makes so much logic ;) why don't i get some free pass to station? They are federals, they have the power to make it happen for me to be let in without scan, but no... because it is stupid game design decision ;) and you guys, are obviously total fanatics for this game if you dont see it

I am not a fanatic by any means. Never knew of the Elite universe until I found about this game. However... I think you would be perfectly fine if this were some other type of game and your Federation contact would say something like: "BTW, this is a completely covert operation. I can't pull the strings with the perimeter defense without raising some concerns, so you will be on your own." So yeah... while a mere "this activity is considered illegal" in the job description is much less of a statement, it should still be enough to do the trick.

I'm not making excuses for the devs... mission design and structure could use some major improvements. I'm just saying is not correct to say there is no logic behind it.

the missions are totally random and generic. There is not much thought behind them. Much faster way how to progress in this game reputation-wise and credit-wise is to do rare commodities trading routes until you have enough money for.... well, anything you wish to do.

Anybody get any missions in Ross 128? I was camping there for days after i became a warrant officer and got the invitation and permit, but no mission since.

a problem i have is for example, when X group gives a mission "we need slaves for work, here have some money", while at the same time offering the mission "free the slaves"....
sorry, but simultaneously offering those missions on an open board can`t be explained by any logic ;)
