Federal Progression Mission Bug help?

Hey folks, need a little help here..

So I'm doing my Fed progression at the moment, Just got to midshipman, and the stage where you get the invitation to sol...

See here's the problem, trading in another system, I became allied with a fed faction, and got given a sol pass... I went to do my pilgrimage... as one does, and hung around doing a few missions, got a few rank progessions and hit midshipman... now the 'go to sol' thing shows up, but it's unavailable as I have one... now I seem to get no missions, am I in a bug cycle? If i go to sol as it says and just wait around for someone to contact me, will they?

Also seem to have a beta hydri pass... which again seems to be a progression mission pass.. but I have it for some reason? I'm highly confused.

Any help for a poor lost commander would be greatly appreciated!

No, you aren't stuck there. The missions for system passes will frequently show in the Unavailable Missions if you already have the pass. Once they are ready to give you the next mission then the correct mission will appear in Available Missions.

Yeah, I was a bit worried about the same thing, but it seems to have no effect on progression. And indeed there is no mission in the system if you take the invitation - it says you will receive a communique once you go to the system, but you won't. There are other permits that you get in the same manner. I sometimes have 3 of them at once in the same bulletin board (e.g., two to the same system and one to a different system).

...and to get the following rank progression missions you just have to up your rep with federation friendly minor-factions. Get enough and you'll go from neutral -> friendly -> allied, and get enough of them allied then you'll see your missions popping up.

Also, no-one will contact you in the systems you have permits to. It's just "story text".

Thanks folks, that's sorted that one then... Just worried I'd be stuck at that point... ah well, back to making creds with mah type 7 till I can get my rep high enough for a next mission in that case!

PS: does seem silly they have this mission framework that does nothing... that nobody contacts you. Bit wasteful... could be a good lead in to another mission if it was!

Indeed. Could be that it's simply bugged. I did see one mission that was not from a faction but “station's medical officer” or something like that, but it was not in a permit system (but rather in the system where I got the permit from)…

But it's far from the only bug in the faction missions, e.g., I've done the previous 3 ranks 2-3 times each, i.e., I accept 2-3 naval progression opportunity missions for the same rank before I do any of them. At first I did it to see if one can progress multiple ranks that way (one can't), but now I'm doing it because the missions so far have been easy, and I'm hoping they give some additional boost to faction rep… This may be the reason why I'm seeing multiple invites to the same system.
