Federal rank orogression bugged?

How long does it take to get allied with fed by doing bounty hunting? Is it the fastest way? What is your combatrank now after getting allied with fed?

Sad you have to do missions to get rank.
The current mission system is useless for any ship bigger than a cobra.

I was getting frustrated because I spent two days flying around trying to find an empire faction I wasn't allied with and couldn't find one, I was allied with them all. A friend said don't worry about it and just do missions for those empire aligned factions. He was right, it didn't matter that I was already allied with them, every 20-30 empire-faction missions gave me my next rank progression.

you CANNOT ignore the alternate path .

Whilst I havent done black box, art, or artefact missions, I can guarantee on the pirate missions you CAN ignore the alternative path, because I did it 5 times last night. First USS I get the "I know you are work for etc etc" the alternative mission comes up. I ignore it, kill the relevant number of pirates "Objective Completed" comes up, I go back and claim not just the bounties but the money from the mission as well.

Then maybe you can explain this because that's exactly what I did but I now have missions in my trans tab that I cannot delete, abandon or deliver.

I currently have the cash for a Federal Dropship however, not the rank for it.
I am currently a Chief Petty Officer which i have been since all the way back to my Cobra days (I am flying an Anaconda now)

I am allied with the federation but still have not seen a single rankup mission since my last rankup to chief petty officer.
I've been traveling to all kinds of federal systems from SOL to frontier worlds but to no hope.

Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?

I did some 4+ hours RES bounty hunting in an anarchy system in Fed space, went from neutral to ally with both station faction and Federation. (pre 1.1, not sure how RES spawns are now and/or rep gain)
