I was in a Unid signal source fighting 2 criminals, after destroying one with no incident, I go to take down the other one, with it's wanted status confirmed. Shoot it once then all the cops turn on me and I get wasted instantly. Then I tried again, once again the 5-0 turn on me.. What's going on?

Newcomer / Intro Federal Security Services going hostile despite no wanted or friendly fire in a USS?

Two possibilities i can think of.
1) you had something stolen/illegal in your Cargohold, and they shot you down for that, or 2) the wanted ship you were attacking was same faction as the police and they defended it.

I had no cargo so possibility 2 is all it could be......well, lesson learned.
Well as for possibility number 1, I didn't have anything in my cargo hold because I was blown up moments ago by an anaconda, and I don't remember a "ship scan" warning either.
As for possibility number 2, if that really is the case then it would suck. That's like a policeman shooting a guy defending himself from an armed robber because the robber was a US citizen :/
