Federation and Empire

So the galaxy is big, really big.. (insert Hitchikers quote here). Do we have an idea for how large the Federation, Empire and Alliance are?

How far has humanity got into the dark and how much there is to explore?

Yes. Open up Galaxy map. Filter by affiliation. Remove "Independent" and "None". Zoom out. Move around. Look at colored dots.

Didn't count them, but if you ask me for an educated guess... I'd say around 6.000 systems, with little over 2.000 of them being Federation and Empire, and 750 each Alliance and Independent.

So Federation and Empire are about the same size, Alliance is sprinkled in between the Federation systems. Independents are around the borders and a few in the middle.

These 6.000 systems (maybe they are 20.000, who cares) make up about a space that is 10-20 times as wide and about twice as long as the current Beta Pill.

The diameter of inhabited is about 10% of the diameter of the Orion arm.
The Orion arm is about... look it up yourself how the Orion arm scales to the milky way.

So... Space is big.
And inhabited space in the Galaxy is a piece of fly excrement on the wall of a football stadium.
