Federation / Empire - good border zones for conflct + praise !!

Okay folks - I'm finding that I'm enjoying combat in ED more than any other sim like it. Yesterday, I found myself mid combat jumping out of my seat as I almost collided with a Clipper. In fact, I did this a sum total of 4 times last night having never been moved to even raise a cheek in any other game. I love the 'nailed it' feeling of combat - especially weaving in and out of asteroids in resource extraction points when it feels cinematic. Honestly - kudos to the developers because they really got it right. I've not played the full range of ships but it seems obvious to me from the ones I have tried that the handling characteristics are pronounced enough to make a real difference and give some material variety to play styles.

With that in mind, I'm keen to find a good area on the map where the Feds & Empire are in conflict in order to pick a side & enjoy a bit of the old Valhalla !!! Factional conflict - pirating - PVP! *evil face*

I would REALLY appreciate any recommendations.

Havent explored the Empire/Fed scenario but I agree ED nailed the combat sensation down...was in an extraction site last nite near SOL with multiple mini battles taking place between cops and "bad" guys and a couple Cmndrs too...was ambushed by 2 NPC's in the assfield (abreviations R fun) was tearing them to pieces in my Eagle with gattling guns when the Cobra i was attacking suddenly lost its drives..his hulking mass smashed into my Eagle and did sum serious VanDamage..meanwhile the other Cobras fryin my buttox with beam lasers...by the time I turn to fire in a 'go down in glory act' I see the Cobra smash into an asteroid.. the asteroid lit up beautifully....and I couldnt help but smile

I had a memorable encounter with an Imperial clipper when I was still in my eagle, pulled me out of supercruise right at the Star. We had a looong dogfight to the backdrop of huge blinding solar flares. Needless to say I kicked his ass ;-)

LOL, nice..batlles in close proximity to planets n such R amazing....lookin forward to an up close n personal with a star now

the Empire and the federation aren't at war yet. There is some player driven conflict similar to the lugh event, but I'm not sure how it took off.

Other than that, there's the Sorbago slave uprising or the onionhead blockade - I'm not a combat oriented player, but I'm having a boatload of fun in the former.

Great video !! I simply cannot imagine how good it is on the DK2!

Thanks - it's indescribable - the sense of presence is amazing - unfortunately completely lost when recording.

But back to topic: Best way to find something that suits you would be the ingame news - just check them and if any particular conflict catches your interest, just head over. (Forgot about Senator Patraeus' expansionist plans...).
