Federation Ranks Missions

Not sure if this is an issue or not but just wanted some feedback. I was doing some Federal Naval Missions trying to get the Invite to Sol. So I did some and got to Midshipman. Then I got a Mission to kill a General and did that, then another and did that and then I was Petty Officer. Then I finally get my Invite Mission however it is to Beta Ceti not Sol. At no point did I ever get offered a mission to get a Sol permit. Does this mean I've lost my chance to get the Sol permit? Is there another way to get one?

Also after accepting the mission to go to Beta Ceti the game crashed and now I can't accept the mission again but I have the permit so I'm assuming I can just go and get missions in Beta Ceti without the mission.

I think pre-order and earlier purchases got Sol permits, I got mine as a beta purchaser.
Otherwise you will have to get offered one by building up reputation with Sol's ruling local faction I think.

Thanks for the replies, my concern is the invite to sol is meant to come before the one to Beta Ceti (according the to wisdom of the internets). Guess I'll just keep grinding. I have the permit to Founders World but not Sol as I backed Kickstarter but not to Beta level.
