Federation rescue missions currently active?

Look for burning stations in Fed space. Open your galaxy map, make sure burning stations icons are on and switch the key to show Fed systems only. You'll find one pretty quickly.
You can also search on Inara @ inara.cz/galaxy-stations-damaged/ . I think its the "damaged" ones you're looking for.
Outfit for economy passengers and run evacuations to the nearby rescue ship. Equip heatsinks, you'll need them.
For variety, grab a collector and a class 4 or 5 cargo slot to collect escape pods, etc in the burning station. They can be cashed in for missions on the rescue ship (you can accept the missions either before or after you've collected the pods etc).

Yeah, its easy to forget they are there if you turn off the burning/repairing stations in your galaxy map.
I got interdicted by one a while ago. Nearly sh@t my pants and have avoided them since...

I hunted Thargoids back when the war started, and again when Scouts showed up, but now I leave my Thargoid-hunting vessels in the hangar.
Maybe I’ll take it up again, once I finish refitting my flagship with parts modded by the new engineering scheme.
