Federation Ship Sale

Does anyone have any clue when there might be a lift on Fed ranks? I'd really like to acquire the Fed Corvette but I'm too lazy to go through the ranks again.

there haven't been one till now. the federation has no emperor to die or a new one to get on a throne ---- and even when hudson became new president he didn't sold that ships without rank.

i'm not sure what would need to happen (i'm not sure whether there will be another imperial sale either - now both navies have ships cmdr's want to fly).

It would need a Federation story in Galnet and that isn't very likely.

The last time that such a lift occurred, it only affected cheap ships such as the Clipper. I've never seen such an event for top ranked ships such as the FDL, Python, Anaconda. I agree with drholliday's sentiment that it is unlikely to ever happen - and this is a good thing. If FD ever rewarded such laziness, I feel like my wing would have to go around destroying ships that were acquired under amnesty until those pilots could no longer afford the rebuy and would lose the ship.

"Sales" of faction-locked ships aren't randomly generated, they have to be hand-coded in by the devs. They might have such a "sale" one day, they might not. But there's sure no way to predict in advance when it will happen.

The Federation celebrated the millennial anniversary of its founding in 3240. So there isn't really a big anniversary coming up to cause a ship sale.

There was 1 Federation ship when Hudson took over, and there was no sale on it for his ascension to the Presidency, so I'm not sure what it would take for that to happen. And it would be on the Federal Gun/Drop/Assault ships, not the Corvette, so don't get your hopes up and start working on those ranks. It's not that hard to get rank, look for Federation faction missions that give Medium or High Reputation gain, that's how you get naval rank progression quickly. Pay will often be pitiful, but you are trying to get rank, not get rich, right?

If the Federal storyline doesn't lend itself to a reason for a sale then maybe something concerning Core Dynamics?

Say they produced too much stock and due a clause in their contract they might sell it to Non-Fed Commanders if those do something for the Federation via a CG first?
Bounty hunting, Imp Culling, trading stuff to Fed worlds and so forth?

I could see that.

And Imperials got a rank removal twice IIRC, it would only be fair if Fed Commanders received the same opportunity.
Especially since the FAS is a pearl of a ship and i would like everyone to experience the joy flying it.

Oh and that the Corvette would be exempt is pretty much a given.
You don't tighten the screws on the grind until it bleeds and then just waive the prerequisites :-D.

A few points on this. When they did this with the Empire ships it was all the Empire ships that were locked by rank i.e. the Courier and the Clipper. Large ships such as the FDL, Python or Anaconda are not locked by rank so would have nothing to do with this.

I suspect that they will eventually do this with the Federation ships and again with the Empire ships but, as has been stated earlier, none of us will have any idea when.

Given they have just released the new ships I think it will be quite a while though.

As for destroying ships that were aquired under the amnesty, I don't think that is practical. I'm not sure how you will know which are "legitimate" purchases and which are "lazy".

I guess you could go around trying to kill anyone in any of those ships until those pilots could no longer afford the rebuy and would lose the ship but that seems to me to be a Herculean task.

I have these ships and you would need to kill me we over 200 times before I couldn't afford them :/

The sales never made sense anyway and defeated the entire point of having faction locked ships. On the other hand seeing as there has now been several opportunities to get Imperial ships without working for them it would only be fair for a reciprocal arrangement for the fed ships.
