Feds against slavery, so they kill slaves?

Today I got interdicted by an NPC as I was flying around in my (Brand new) Python. Sure, no problem, I take quick care of the poor sap with my massive new weapons... All of a sudden a FDL jumps in and types the following (paraphrasing, can't remember the exact quote): "Imperial slave traders don't deserve to live. Prepare to die." And then he proceeds to vaporise me in a couple of seconds. Besides being rather livid at the fact that this happened one jump from the A. Lavigny-Duval's home system, and the 6.7mil credit insurance payout (I now only have 10mil left at this stage), I am also quite confused... Obviously this guy doesn't give a rat's ass about slaves, because he has just brutally murdered 128 (tonnes of cargo, so it must have been quite a few more people) Imperial Slaves (Who are treated with honour as it plays an important part of Imperial culture). Pretty annoyed, and i wish the Feds would come up with a decent excuse for murdering us around our home systems...

P.S. I prefer open because these special cases are rare, and I enjoy playing with other CMDRs, the cameraderie during the recent Imperial Warship CG was amazing...

Oh, he probably thought he was doing them a favour. It's not like he could pick them up and give them a good home.
Some Feds also hate Imperials for exterminating a sentient species a good while back as well.
Others probably have good reasons as well.
What can I say, humans...
-.-

And before you go off on one, my father, Thelonious Monkey, was an imperial slave who rebelled. He was killed in the reconquest of Asphodel in March 3301.

I will neither forgive his abusers nor forget his sacrifices.

They don't actually care about the slaves, they are just self centered virtue signaling white knights.

I am wondering, in this 'cut-throat' galaxy; what other option, did the FDL have? Ask you to take good care of them and bid you good day? Run away?

I see your point; slave traders must die and the slaves you have in your hold, are just a sacrifice to the cause.

Good story OP. First off, naughty you for dealing in slavery! Secondly, put your Python up until you've earned enough for at least 2-3 rebuys.

The fed destroyed you because, quite simply, you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs.

Slavery is very lucrative but it is also dangerous. I can't condone the actions of these anti-slavers... enough.

Keep up the good work guys. It's a shame that there isn't some sort of underground railroad that would accept those NPCs who are unfortunate enough to find themselves in Imperial shackles. Hopefully it will be something that will be added to the game at a later date.

Feds would rather force those indebted to live a life of poverty with no way out... Then moving that debt onto family members when they decide theyve had enough of galactic life.

But if you look at Roman history you'll see the indentured slave trade didnt so so well for their economy in the long run either...

Overall though the anti slavery mindset in the federation is hypocritical. Bought and sold slaves in plenty federal jurisdictions

Giving good advice to slavers when feds are        about the recent corrupt Empire CG results ... bad idea jeans.

Wait, so you got a boatload of credits for a tiny amount of effort from the CG and already poured it so deep into a ship you're left with one rebuy?

The game encourages risk takers and some players like to take more risks, than others: Sometimes they loose. I would bet the OP does not have a fall back ship?

Just out of curiosity, did he actually scan to check whether you were a 'slave trader' or not.

I get the role-playing aspect of playing someone who hates slave traders, but this sounds like a half-***** attempt at it.
• Murders the slaves in the process
• Assumes that every imperial player roleplays a 1-dimensional cartoon villain that are all slave traders (that's assuming he didn't scan)

I like how many Imperial slavers will try to justify their barbarism by pretending their form of slavery is noble and honorable.

Like we don't have history books and are all entirely unable to read up on the reality of indentured servitude. :)
