As it not only means that I will spend much less time on the Forums. But also means that once more an Administration has given up the Right to Freedom of Speech and has decided it is much easier to enforce Control if they simply Prohibit certain Topics that can be problematic and thus Silence People by Censorship.
Now many People might say this is a Game Forum. Which is Certainly True.
But this is as the Name implies. A Game Community Forum.
Its not the Game. But the Community of this Game which is Socializing here.
And Banning Political Discussions in Essence is the First Step towards the Hardliner approach of Banning any Discussion not relevant to the Game.
Which will Ultimately Destroy large parts of the Community. Because while I like Playing the Game and also Talk about the Game often. Talking about it extensively is not really the reason I come here and its also not really making sense. Because for that I can just Join the Game itself.
The Ban of Political Discussions is an Great Step back and will likely make the Forum a much more Boring and much less Visited Place.
Just because the Common Factor for all of us. Is that we are Playing this Game. Does not mean that the Community Formed here is Limited to this Game.
The Price of Free Speech and an Open Minded Community. Is often that the Authorities have to Invest more Patience and Work into it than you need for an Follower Base which keeps their opinion to themselves due to Fear of repercussions.
After all keeping Order is much Harder if you cant just take the Firefighter Hoses to Mow down a Shouting Mob.
I would however also Warn you. That the Price of an Silenced Community can often go much higher than that. As Dissent and Distrust will breed about your Motives and Methods. And the Complete Silencing of an Topic due to it annoying you. Will likely very soon end up coming back to you. As People will Remember it when other annoying things come up. And will (even if its not the real reason for your actions in that case) rub into your Faces that your just Censoring and Silencing them because its annoying you.
As such.
I would like to Voice my Clear Dissappointment and Sadness at this Change which will likely Greatly Reduce my Time spend in this Forum.
And I would Appeal the Decision to be Reconsidered.
