PS5 Player here.
A lot of players are frustrated because the game mechanics changed a lot from the last game. Plenty of players went in blind and didn't want to have spoilers from youtubers, so they were caught off guard. The campaign, though I like it, is not a good tutorial. It also barely unlocks anything, forcing players to go to challenge and chaos theory modes.
While we can play challenge mode Canada on easy to unlock most of the actual dinosaurs, many of the cosmetic skins are locked behind medium and hard mode. We also have to unlock many sandbox maps to this way too. In the previous game only 1 skin was unlocked by hard mode, while now entire family trees of skins are. In my opinion it's unfair. Even with researching guides and tips, hours of your gameplay can be wiped out if you are unlucky getting 2 natural disasters in a row. I would like to suggest alternatives or ideas how this can be changed.
- Offer a sandbox mode unlock. Penalties like no achievements or game progress could happen.
-For challenge mode have all maps and cosmetic skins unlockable at easy level. We still play and build to earn, without as much frustration for being forced to play challenge mode. Offer new rewards or acheivements for medium, hard and jurassic modes. (JWE1 Skins? One of a kind skins? Special bonus effects like 2% more money ticket prices per 5 star jurassic mode difficulty?)
-For chaos theory mode offer a easy mode to unlock skins or dinos in sandbox, but not have it count as "completed" or no achievements.
-For challenge and chaos theory modes change the bankruptcy mechanic. Do not allow us to go into the negative so we can recover from a series of unfortunate events.
-For challenge and chaos theory modes offer a unlimited money option so we still have to play the modes but not fail when mistakes are made or a catastrophic event happens. Have a penalty like game mode not considered "completed" or no achievements.
-For the Dominion update have the additional campaign mode enable us to unlock maps, cosmetic skins and way more animals for our parks. However, we will be waiting until June for that.
EDIT For chaos theory mode, have any skins, dinos or assests unlocked for sandbox at 3 stars instead of 5.
PC Players will have mods to get around what they don't like about these game mechanics, but console players will not. I do not mind building many parks and playing the chaos theory modes, but I want to enjoy them and still get my sandbox rewards as well. To lose hours of work and have to start over, possibly many times, is testing the patience of players. This is not what we were expecting.
