PvP Feedback Cascade = Absolutely Necessary?

I'm making a Fer-de-Lance build with 4 OC Multis and one PA, but when I make builds that don't contain rail guns, a question lingers in the back of my head:

What about feedback cascade?

I want the advice of experienced PvP pilots here. Is it possible to win battles against strong opponents without having feedback cascade rail guns?

Should I sacrifice a multi-cannon for a rail gun? (I really don't want to do that since I really want my builds to be symmetrical...)

I know I can't choose my opponents, but maybe at least I could make an appropriate build knowing how possible it is that I'll encounter an SCB tank...

FCRs are certainly not always required. You will not be able to kill bigger banktanks as you will be running out of ammo. But yeah, I am having alot of builds without FCRs and when I encounter a big ship I usually avoid it as mediums and smalls are faster than big ones. On big ships I always run a FCR. Alternatively, use a bomber :p
These make FCRs obsolete.

As Kaim states, it depends on what you are fighting.

Which is total pot luck these days.

If you are fighting a shield and SCB tank with your stated build, you are going to have a super hard time.
Take on a big ship and it is a requirement.
Take on a hybrid bi-weave or prismatic hull-tank and you have wasted a hardpoint ( to a degree )

Then, you have the SCB mods to consider, which greatly reduce the time you have to cancel a bank and even then you are unlikely to get a full cancellation, as they generally require 2-4 strikes with a C2.
