Feedback Cascade Question, if i May?

Hi Cmdrs,

Just kitting out an all rail DBS for a bit of fun. Building the 2x Class 2 slots with rails as Super penetrator, and the 2x class 1 slots with Rails as Feedback Cascade.

So my question is when is the best time to fire these at a ship that has just fired a Shield Cell Bank?

Is there a 'Optimum time' to hit the ship when you see the SCB going off?

Is the Class 1 (x2) slot rail good enough to have an effect on the target ship?

Finally a related question, would the Imp Hammers be better than the default Rails?

Thank you y'all

The sooner the better. You need to hit it during the "spin-up" phase, not during the recharge phase, and if you're quick enough you can get two hits in during that time.

Depends how big the SCB is. Certainly 2xC1 should be fine for NPCs - I haven't used them enough in PvP to know where the thresholds are there.

I haven't used them myself, but I understand that *if* you can consistently land all three shots they're better.

You can see me using two smalls effectively against an npc Corvette in this vid I just posted in another topic...

I also have another vid on my channel called railgun effectiveness, where I demonstrate the feedback/penetrator combo (one of each medium) against a Corvette in my python, which is the better vid for railgun specific usage, hope you enjoy.

2xC1 is better than 1xC2, even against large SCBs. One volley will significantly reduce the effectiveness and two will reach max effect against anything, except perhaps class seven and eight, where 5 shots may be needed for the complete 90%.

Well since you are obviously a man of taste with reference to your ship & indeed, loadout choices, I thought you might be interested in almost the exact same build in action:

I would heartily recommend fitting it with autoloader o/c multis too...against wings the full hulltank version requires judicious use of SR, as often all enemy ships are fitted with seekers - almost like they know one's weakness?!? Hmmmm!:| - this kind of challenge is exactly why it is my PvE ship of choice, these days; I have a vid somewhere where I take on & kill a wing of a FDL plus two FGS's (both fitted with seekers) purely by strategic SR toggling & heatsinks - huge risk & reward...tremendous fun too!

You'll appreciate the name of this little beast more than most: 'Tarantula Hawk'...the "Roy Keane" of wasps! [big grin]

NB: Apologies for my wild aim....it's the Hotas X's fault! [yesnod]

These are great questions and good timing since I'm just starting to experiment with rails myself.

Thanks to all the great answers on this i have now completed my rail DBS build, and put 2 class 2 rails on my 'Trouser' (Ship Name ;) ) Python. I must admit i am Blown away by the rail DBS. I am able to take on Elite/Deadly Conda's with engineering in these Pirate activity sites, without losing shields! The Python is, IMHO, much more deadly with the 2 rails on instead of 2x MC!

I am Luvin Them to bits. Roll on this weekend when i get hold of the Imp Hammers!!

I'm currently aligned for Imperial Hammers ...I was just getting them to check a box, but now that I'm beginning to use rails I'm starting to really have fun with them. Here's my question:

I understand that it usually takes two hits to cancel 90% of SCBs, depending on the size of rail gun and the SCB, or one volley of 2 feedback cascade rails for small shields, two for larger ones, etc. If you hit with all three Imperial Hammer shots and have feedback cascade applied, does that count as 3 hits for canceling SCBs? Because, if so, that could make them amazing vs SCB-spamming shield tanks!
