Engineers Feedback Cascade Rails - Sturdy or Long Range?

o7 CMDRs!

After years I finally wanna make the switch from gimballed to fixed weapons (damn those chaffs!). My plan is to build a Chieftain with an all MC loadout and 2 small Feedback Cascade Rails to deal with those pesky SCBs for PvE.

I know this question has been asked a couple of times already, but I haven't found any recent informations concerning this matter.

With those 2 small Feedback Cascade Rails, only meant to be used against SCBs, should I got for a Sturdy (because of the heat - is it really that bad?) or Long Range (because of damage falloff - I read somewhere that the Cascade effect might be linked to the damage dealt) mod?

EDIT:
Comparing those two mods on coriolis with a G3 mod, it's 11.5 HPS (Long Range) vs. 9.2 HPS (Sturdy). Doesn't seem to be such a huge difference, so in my case Long Range might be the better option?

Thanks in advance CMDRs!

I'm a fan of lightweight for the distro and mounting power reduction.

But between those 2, long range will generally serve you better, sturdy is unnecessary for the occasional SCB shutdown.

Thanks guys!

Tested those 2 small Rails yesterday without any mods to get a better view on how things roll.

Heat is no problem indeed, so Sturdy is out of the race.

Distro and Power ain't no problem either with my build, so Lightweight wouldn't be necessary as well.

How about Short Range with Feedback Cascade as another alternative? I'm generally using them at around 1km or closer anyway (my aim is beyond horrible, so I won't be sniping at distances anyway to mind the increased damage falloff with Long Range), so the increased damage would be a nice bonus and the increased Thermal Load would be negated by Feedback Cascade anyways?

If you practice you may find they are actually quite a bit easier to land at a distance.
The LR mod adds a bit of "micro-gimbal" effect and the target takes longer to cross your screen at range.
SCBs are often triggered while on the run as well.
You'd be hamstringing what is arguably that weapon's best asset.

For large NPC targets, short range is nice because of the sizable damage boost and relative ease of keeping close to your target.

It's far less useful for PvP, with a handful of exceptions, as precisely controlling engagement distance is much more difficult.

Sturdy all day long - because I roll with 7 railguns on my FGS. Of course I let my NPC pilot do the shooting whilst I fly the fighter.

It's like watching the hand of God strike NPC's down.
