Hi there!
Short background - stopped playing several months ago, due to some frustration while a few co-players and myself were looking for suitable ground station to attack. I don't remember exact reason, but we flew around for a hour and had all kinds of problems. After recovery from all that, I loaded up the latest elite version.
Missions:
I liked the new mission layout and new variants. But immediately after checking the inbox I noticed old bugs showing up: Messages which are not "clickable", duplicates. But I didnt experience any broken missions, since 2.1.
Outfitting:
I hate the new interface even more than the old one. I would like to search for available stock with as few clicks as posisble and get a quick overview whats available. Also there is no way of telling remotely what hardware would be available in a system. It would be great if ED would send some "ads" from big worlds nearby that advertise high grade/quality hardware.
NPCS:
I find it very dangerous now to fight against NPCs. Not sure if good or bad. Will buy some small fighter soon and practice a bit. But I feel already that from now on I will no longer earn cr/hr but loose them due to repairs and lost ships.
Engineers:
I stocked up on old materials from planets and collected some new data/materials for a few hours. The long trip to one engineer was disappointing for me. Paying a highly sought after meta alloy, and building a few random modifications (I dont even dare to grind for "highly sought after modifications") but I had the feeling that they made the ship worse than before. In the end I just upgraded to gain rank and throw away all the bad modifications. Kept a single one in the end. Overall - quite disappointed with the results for the time invested.
Galaxy Map / Tooltips:
I like the new functions. Still have to learn how to take advantage of the new information (states) etc for the trading.
commodities:
nice to see more things here. But as well, the interface I dont like it. Sorting options and more customizable information or even some price comparisions to other systems I would like to fly to are all missing. Since jumping & flying around takes so much time, it's difficult for me to do those exploration trips just to find out it was not worth the time.
GFX
I noticed some graphical glitches (planet surface gets dark then grey then dark again) Happens in the deciat system at Farseer. It's really sad, because when the surface is visible it looks really good.
overall
The new version made Elite surely more interesting, but I now that I have wasted the materials I fear that I won't get much out of the new content and I dislike that it's so hard and time consuming to get some improvents out from the game. But I'll see how it goes in the next weeks.
Cheers!
