Feedback on Frontier's communication.

"We really appreciate hearing how you’re enjoying the game and the suggestions you have; they are incredibly valuable to helping shape the future of Planet Coaster 2."

The only acknowledgement we've had from Frontier, since the game launched (in the unacceptable state that it did, IMO), was about how we're enjoying the game.
I'm not going to post this to vent and spew bile. I just want to give feedback on Frontier's choice to communicate to us in the way they have.

Yes, there are clearly a fair few people enjoying the game. They're on this forum, in the comments section, on Discord. But just under half the reviews (on Steam at least) are negative. Before the announcement about December's free update frustrations were high and I expected more from Frontier than what their post delivered.
It is good to know we have that update coming up in a matter of weeks, absolutely. But you released PC2 in a state that for many of us not only under-delivered in terms of quality but actually fails to work properly. That's not the kind of thing you respond to with: We really appreciate hearing how you're enjoying the game.

Personally, as one voice echoing beside others who have shared the same frustrations as me, you've left us unheard and not valued. Even with the promise of bug fixes.
You broke trust. The game was meant to be finished. It was supposed to work. You sold it to us despite it not being finished and not working correctly.
It might be fine for players who keep the game paused and just do builds. It might satiate content creators who rarely dip their toe into the actual gameplay part of the experience (I think I've only seen one YouTuber touch the campaign).
But there's a lot of us who expressed a feeling of being conned, or tricked.

Your communications have only added onto the disappointment, and I hope you'll reconsider how you approach the community as we come up to the December update. Because right now, as pleased as I will be to have the game more functional (hopefully), I feel like you guys have crossed a line and I won't trust you again. That means that I won't be buying Jurassic World Evolution 3, nor Planet Zoo 2, nor whatever else you're cooking up, anywhere close to their launches ever again.
I also absolutely won't be buying any DLC for PC2 for a long time.
(And I don't want to feel this way).

But actually taking some accountability and being straight with the community can go a long way.
It did for others in your industry who made similar mistakes with their game launches.

My feedback for Frontier is: you can continue as is, sure, but it will only corrode the good faith that existed between a certain portion of your community (your fans, the people who were bigging you up) and you guys.

Just an extra note: as per the community managers wishes, I have tried to keep this neutral. I value the work the community managers do and this is no criticism of their communications (which are directed by those above them), and I would appreciate any follow up comments that may be posted by others to try and keep things civil/ neutral as I have.

Cheers.

Yes it has become very unpersonal and corporate. What makes games like this good is the feedback from the diehard players. People with years and thousands of hours or building experience in the first game. But they are like "nope we know best" and let out critical features we enjoyed and got used to from the first game. They are acting a little bit oblivious. I hope we get some more interaction with them and better communication in general.

As a long-time player of RCT and PC, what I'm most disappointed about is that this isn't the work of the Frontier that I've known and enjoyed for years.

Yes, there's many, MANY things done right in PC2, but there are also MANY things I just shake my head at, and there are also MANY things that are a step back from Frontier's previous work. Certainly their other titles have had their problems here and there - all games do - but never to this degree in my opinion, and I don't consider myself as being overly demanding either. There's things in this game I will just NEVER place in a park, either I see them as so poorly designed or so unattractive that I just can't. So many things that don't function properly. I'd expect this sort of thing from the previous RCT-series developer - and actually saw them do exactly that...but not from Frontier So I find it disappointing, and I hope they can fix everything that needs fixing, and improve this game. They've certainly been able to achieve those high levels before...

And when I read those glowing reviews that came out at release that call it the best thing since the invention of sliced bread... 🤨

Frontier - please do better.

If all of our bad critics will become public to a bigger audience, Frontier will never again profit of pre-orders. Everyone would wait for "real" reviews after release...
I don't know why they made such bad decisions.

Thanks for bringing this up in a clear way.
This game has so much potential, but it also feels to me like an early access game. I won't be buying any DLC or recommending it to others, until there are substantial fixes and quality of life improvements. It does feel rather like the community's feedback is not being acknowledged at this point. The community managers are here but they are not the ones who can implement our feedback, or who were in charge of releasing the game in this state.
I can only hope a lack of DLC purchases will be noticed, which is not ideal but would be harder for the company to ignore. It is not because I don't want to play the game. I really do! There really is a lot of potential here. But in this state it is comparable to an early access experience, which is not what we were promised or paid for.
I have a list of feedback on this forum, but there are so many more things that could go on to that list that it would be a mile long. Issues with UI, guest AI, game economy, and more. I have trouble understanding how these things were overlooked. And trouble understanding the radio silence from Frontier.
I hope that they can improve this game into a state that gives a good experience, and regain the trust of the community and myself through their actions. But there is a long way to go and they don't even seem to acknowledge this right now.

I know I'm just one customer to Frontier. But I was in that core fanbase who played nearly all of their games, bought nearly all of the DLC they released, and clocked hundreds of hours in their titles.

After today, specifically regarding the £8 DLC being released for a game that has left a lot of the fanbase feeling like they've been duped, dumped with an unfinished game and like we have to fight through a buggy mess to find what value we can in our purchase, I'm done.
Whoever is making the decisions at Frontier, you've now done irrevocable damage to your company's reputation in my eyes.
And I'm done with PC2. Enjoy my £55.
