"We really appreciate hearing how you’re enjoying the game and the suggestions you have; they are incredibly valuable to helping shape the future of Planet Coaster 2."
The only acknowledgement we've had from Frontier, since the game launched (in the unacceptable state that it did, IMO), was about how we're enjoying the game.
I'm not going to post this to vent and spew bile. I just want to give feedback on Frontier's choice to communicate to us in the way they have.
Yes, there are clearly a fair few people enjoying the game. They're on this forum, in the comments section, on Discord. But just under half the reviews (on Steam at least) are negative. Before the announcement about December's free update frustrations were high and I expected more from Frontier than what their post delivered.
It is good to know we have that update coming up in a matter of weeks, absolutely. But you released PC2 in a state that for many of us not only under-delivered in terms of quality but actually fails to work properly. That's not the kind of thing you respond to with: We really appreciate hearing how you're enjoying the game.
Personally, as one voice echoing beside others who have shared the same frustrations as me, you've left us unheard and not valued. Even with the promise of bug fixes.
You broke trust. The game was meant to be finished. It was supposed to work. You sold it to us despite it not being finished and not working correctly.
It might be fine for players who keep the game paused and just do builds. It might satiate content creators who rarely dip their toe into the actual gameplay part of the experience (I think I've only seen one YouTuber touch the campaign).
But there's a lot of us who expressed a feeling of being conned, or tricked.
Your communications have only added onto the disappointment, and I hope you'll reconsider how you approach the community as we come up to the December update. Because right now, as pleased as I will be to have the game more functional (hopefully), I feel like you guys have crossed a line and I won't trust you again. That means that I won't be buying Jurassic World Evolution 3, nor Planet Zoo 2, nor whatever else you're cooking up, anywhere close to their launches ever again.
I also absolutely won't be buying any DLC for PC2 for a long time.
(And I don't want to feel this way).
But actually taking some accountability and being straight with the community can go a long way.
It did for others in your industry who made similar mistakes with their game launches.
My feedback for Frontier is: you can continue as is, sure, but it will only corrode the good faith that existed between a certain portion of your community (your fans, the people who were bigging you up) and you guys.
Just an extra note: as per the community managers wishes, I have tried to keep this neutral. I value the work the community managers do and this is no criticism of their communications (which are directed by those above them), and I would appreciate any follow up comments that may be posted by others to try and keep things civil/ neutral as I have.
Cheers.
