Feedback on yesterday's stream

Some quick feedback on the new features shown on the stream yesterday.

Cons:
  • Panels and buttons too big... Looks like Big Picture mode which, in my opinion, always looks bad and gamey especially when playing on PC.
  • Don't like the button prompts in the galaxy map.
  • Don't like the flight manual button added into every function of my ship since it kinda breaks the simulation feel.
Pros:
  • Love the trading interface.
  • Great additions for new Commanders.
  • Pilot's manual itself is an awesome addition!
  • Cruise assist and docking computer are great for new players all people who want to be space taxi drivers!
All in all I like the new additions. I am never fond of out-of-game prompts and functions added to the cockpit which is why I don't like when the interface points out which buttons to press or when there's a link to the pilot's manual added to functions of the ship. I get that this is great for new players, but I find it absolutely annoying, like everything that breaks the simulation feel.

So, actually the only thing I really want in addition to the new features, is making buttons prompts and pliot's-manual-links optional. Basically I want to be able to switch off the new-pilot-mode of my ship making all the tutorial functions go poof for good.
It's in general something that's missing in the game: toggles for many, many things.

I don't like button prompts either. I too would also like a toggle for them. As to the other cons, I will have to see it for myself first.

The pros I agree with. Also interested and in seeing what these interstellar initiatives will be like.

Frontiers have made the menu for switching on / off the CruiseAssist and docking and Undocking
In my opinion, it’s rather simple to integrate it into the ship the same way as it did with the scanner.

Strange balance, just think:
"We add two new modules, but medium and large ships will get only 1 slot"
what's the point?
For example, the Anaconda of small slots has only 2x1 and I have a surface scanner there and then with the update release I can insert only one of the two modules, do we again have to waste our 2+ class slots for class 1 modules? there are already too many of them.
Just make them built into the ship, add mass + power consumption, you can not even add slots of 1 size.
This is no longer funny..

It turns out that on a large ship to use all these modules, on Anaconda should even use 4 slots for a module of 1 size.
Example (start from bottom up) :

1x1(new slot) = Docking Computer or Cruise Assist
2x1 = Surface Scanner 4
4x1 Docking Computer or Cruise Assist

Small ships without any problems can use 2 new modules at once, do not you think this is strange or according to the developers if they give us 2x1 slots for large and medium ships will we immediately become immortal or something like that?

Or it's time to add a module to separate the slots.

I too would like to see a toggle for all "tutorial functions". But also for the CQC rank thingy.
I think they just need to incentivize CQC play by fixing the rewards, as I mentioned in another thread. Having the rank there did motivate me to work up to amateur, can't have that "Mostly Helpless" staring at me all the time.

FDev, PLEASE fix the rewards for CQC, it will give us a reason to play it.

But I don't mind having extra ranks there even for side stuff like CQC. I anticipate that eventually, probably years down the road, we will have Space Legs combat, which will have an associated "Hand-to-hand" ranking, or something like that.

I'm expecting a toggle for it will be a thing anyway.

I am just going with a strong "NO" here.
Apart from the fact that I absolutely don't care about CQC, also because it's PvP, the display of the rank in my cockpit contradicts lore and the whole simulation feel. CQC seems to exist in the game world as kind of a sport, but why would every space ship display my rank in a sport on my panel along with the Pilots Federation ranks?!? I don't even participate in that discipline and I am pretty sure the Pilots Federation didn't introduce a special rank for that. It's just a gamey thing. Which is why I absolutely don't like it.

I'm expecting a toggle for it will be a thing anyway.

I also expected that when it was about the new lighting and colour grading, and still the Milky Way changes colour depending on the local star's colour.
I really hope we get the toggles. I don't want a button referencing to the game manual in every section of my ship's functions.
