The target/location information given in the main forward UI can be streamlined.
It presents some first order information which is not immediately useful: target vessel's faction and the polity of the current location. Both of which can be used to determine whether attacking a target makes sense, but they require additional thought to use.
1) For location information, the only use is "Do I want to get a bounty from XYZ Interstellar for doing this?" which doesn't influence gameplay much. The local polity/ruling faction does little to influence how the game is played moment to moment. Whether we are currently Wanted or carrying illegal goods (the useful information derived from the combination of local polity, legal state and cargo) is already shown above the right hand info box. A player playing the background simulation will know which faction is in control of in a given system, and can check the right hand UI panel if unsure. A more immediately useful piece of information would be whether the current location is an Anarchy or not, as this answers the question "Will I get a bounty for doing this?"
2) For target faction affiliation, this is only immediately useful when carrying out a "Kill targets of faction XYZ Interstellar" mission. The blue 'Mission Target' label (that was added since this faction affiilation label was designed) overrides this information when carrying out these massacre missions anyway, so the target faction can be relegated to the left hand UI panel extra information tab.
