Feedback Wanted - What's the Lowest Ore You'd Mine?

I'm developing a tool for miners, but I'm keep going back on forth on one issue. How many ore types should I include on the list? If I include all ore types, Painite down to Bauxite, that's a big long list and it takes up a lot of real estate on the tool page itself. But is this necessary? Do you actually mine aluminum or bauxite?

In the image below is my original design. Since then I redesigned the tool page to include a long list of all ore types, but this has forced me to dramatically alter the layout (which feels more cluttered). If you're interested in a little more info, check out the page here. Otherwise, I would GREATLY appreciate the community's feedback on this issue.

The ore types in the image are from a pristine metallic ring system. Should I include the FULL list of all ore types?

I mine palladium, painit, plating sometimes gold, when I feel in the mood, and when time goes to the end (having to log off) I also take osmium. because there are sometimes missions for mining osmium. however gold and osmium should come in big% of the asteroid otherwise its a waste of time.

Really depends :

1) If it's for sheer Profit, the "3 big P" (Palladium/Platinum/Painite) would be it.

2) If it's a relaxed Mining run with average Profit in mind, I mine all Precious Metals (Silver/Osmium/Gold/Palladium/Platinum and obviously Painite)

3) If I'm Mining to support a Faction - satisfy certain Commodity Market demands (specifically High Demand) or Mining Missions - my focus is commonly on the three standard Mission Ores : Osmium/Platinum/Painite

4) special : if I'm Mining to support a Faction with both Metals and Minerals (a 2nd Planetary Base or Station is a Refinery), I'll do "Vacuum Mining". Everything a Pristine Metallic Ring has to offer, no matter what. Every Asteroid after another.
That means Gallite, Indite, Bertrandite, Silver, Osmium, Gold, Palladium, Platinum and Painite.

Rocky Mining?
I'm not aware of anyone doing that, for Mining purposes these Ores seem absolutely irrelevant (although they've been the first I've mined in a Sidewinder back in the old days ;) ).

I could imagine some guys might do mine in Metal-Rich fields, though.
That would mean some other Ores to add : http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Miner

For the sake of completeness, I'd reckon having all Ores (but selectable) might be required to offer the most comprehensive service by such a tool.

I agree with this assessment. Pretty much how I tackle mining as well.

I've mined rocky rings occasionally, just for a change. Certainly not for the money.
During the HIP 8396 CG, many players were just minng the nearby metal rich ring. I had a couple of goes as well, though I did most of it at the closest two pristine metallic systems.
I've even had a go at mining in an ice ring, though that didn't work at all.

I am a full time miner and I love it.
I always hunt for the top 3: Painite, Platinum and Palladium. I will also pick up some Osmium as you can find mining contracts only for Painite, Platinum and Osmium and they pay very well.
All the others are by products for me and get dumped to make room if I find any of the top 3.
I mine using lots of prospector limpets. For me spending time hitting as many rocks as possible to search for the better rocks is time more well spent than sitting there picking up the "lesser" ores.
More sampling improves my chances of finding the big score. I rarely have a session where I haven't found a 40% or more Painite or Platinum rock that really brings a smile to my face.

Maybe in regards to the ore selection, have a config that lets them choose.

Again, total agrement apart from 2) I would omit Silver, just not worth it.

Triple P, Osmium, Beryllium, Gallium, Gold, Silver, and uh
no no don't tell me, I got this,
um,
er.
Thing. The other one.
Nope - it's gone.

Indium.

Yep, I'll go down on Indium.

I only aim for the three Ps, maybe I'll keep some osmium gold and silver towards the end of my mining jaunt, but thats only if things have gone bad and i've ran low on drones because the roids have been crap - typically at the end I'll just suck up anything I blast off the roid as I don't see the point of returning with empty cargo space whilst I still have active collectors. But for the purpose of your tool I don't care in the slightest about them because they'll typically only bring in the cost of my outgoing limpets.

I only mine P's, but if I happen to get gold or osmium in the same roid I usually keep it, especially the Osmium as it's often linked to missions.
