Newcomer / Intro Fellow Capsuleers, where are you?

Just wondering how much of the current player base migrated from EVE.

If so, have you un-subbed? I've been an Eve Vet since 2007, still subbed... for now.

I used to play eve, unsubbed years ago because telling my partner to shh during a fleet op is bad for the relationship :) despite meeting my partner in eve thats still a big no no.
Great game, just takes far too much time and effort, theres no such thing as a short roam.

I played Eve back in 2003 it was a very basic release but still a nice game. Played again a few years ago. It is a massive time sink though.

I enjoyed Eve, little things kind of drove me away from it.
Jump drives(when I finally got one) required 2 people, sucks when you are the only one that has it trained between you and your brother.
Getting continually war-decked, but this was also funny. Our newer corp was mostly offline members, I think we had 40 people with 3 actually playing, and the update came out where war-decking cost funds per member in the corp. Yeah the war-decking finally stopped.
They nerfed the drake... expected since I could solo Lvl 5 missions, but disappointing that they nerfed it so much. One of my drakes still has Large Hard points on it.

I bought into Star Citizen too, but they are a ways before Alpha. The only other game I had till this was Evochron Mercenary, good game but... a little dated as far as graphics.

This makes no difference now, but you don't need two jump capable pilots. Just one jump capable pilot in a capital ship and one pilot that has cyno theory level 1 trained to light a cyno :p

I unsubbed a year or so ago after a long on again, off again relationship. It always frustrated me that no matter how well I played I couldn't compete with the players that had been on since launch (skill point accrual). Plus, I didn't like pressing a button and sitting still for the game to do everything. I want to fly my own damned ship. ;)

Ditched it last year after 1 year playing. Didnt like the fact your pilot had to learn in game skills (which seemed to take forever at higher levels) instead of using player skill.

I started playing it because I was looking for something like Elite......eve wasnt it.

I played Eve for 6 months in 2012.
It was a positive experience overall, but there were a few details that prevented me from loving the game.
I certainly met some cool guys (especially in Eve Uni), but I really never got hooked on the mechanics of the game, especially the combat.
.
I always disliked the entrenched skill progression aspect of the game too; its one of the typical game mechanics that irritates me most about MMOs in general. Games based on progression trees instead of true player skill is a big turnoff for me these days. I would rather stink horribly but have a chance at getting better, than always be worse simply cause I didn't start sooner or don't grind enough.
.
I hope that FDev will foster as wealthy of a Social Experience as Eve was able to do... One of the only ways any game lasts for me is through the friends I make along the way.

Beldows that you from freelancing corp? lol

Eve-online player in 2004 and in 2009, totalling 1 year. Ever since i left in 2009, i've been looking for decent space game that fits my wishes. Eve was cool but i never really enjoyed it due to lack of full ship control, extreme focus on character skill over player skill and how boring mining was. Plus, spreadsheets. Spreadsheets everywhere!

Elite dangerous is the closest so far to what i like!

I'm only missing some things like manufacturing and other features they confirmed they are going to add like landing on planets and such before i call it the space game i always wanted.

I've noticed a lot of people citing skillpoints over player skill. Go to themittani(dot)com and look up the ALOD stories. Player skill always trumps skill points lol, but I agree with all of you that not being able to manually conroll your ship is annoying, but they've changed that with new optional wasd controls but it's not much.. nothing like Elite.

Nope I was Beldemon and Beld Ermon in eve, most known for my work as an interdictor pilot in Rote Kapelle

And I was Beld Errmon in Dust514, the terror of the Oceania servers till everyone got aimbots :D

Personally I always thought killboard numbers mattered more then SP :)

yep 2007 pilot, over 100mil sp been unsubbed for like 6 months now. Wasent logging in and just training. Still follow the games story and dev blogs. Love the new direction just cant bring myself to play and resub. Who knows in the future, Once EVE has her hold over you, she has you and u always come back. Hence u should never sell everything ;)

I haven't migrated; Eve is still my preferred choice. I belong to a corp with a great bunch of guys, and we have a lot of fun PvP'ing in small fleets using mostly fairly small ships. That camaraderie of flying together seems to be missing in ED. At the moment I am playing ED to rekindle the memories I have of playing Frontier Elite many years ago. Initial impressions are that it just doesn't have the depth of content that Eve does, but I'll persevere to give it a chance to grow on me.
