Engineers Fer de Lance shield advice please

Recently bought my first dedicated combat ship, an FDL.
Here's the build so far:

I'm still experimenting with weapons and as you can see in the link I've so far upgraded FSD to grade 5 increased range, thrusters grade 5 dirty (boost speed 526 :) ) and power plant to G1 overcharged (for a little headroom).
Next is shield mods.
On my previous ships, I've always opted for heavy duty shields and boosters but from what I've read, for a combat vessel, I'm thinking I need something a little more refined so I'm opting for thermal resistant shields with 5 or 6 boosters. I've played around with the shield calculator posted elsewhere on this sub-forum but I can't decide what to do with the boosters. Some say a mix of thermal resistance, augmented and heavy is the way to go. Not sure if I should go with 5 boosters and leave the sixth slot for something else (heatsink launcher/point defence/ECM? - not sure what to go for here).
Any advice/recommendations please?

Thermal resistant shield+Resistance augmented boosters=no need for 5.

Use 3 or 4 depending on your needs and enjoy the magic of heat sinks.

i run thermal bi-weave and 3 res-boosters on mine, works nicely, and leaves room for chaff and kws - in CZ i fit point defence for the KWS.

Haven't flown my ships today. I've been hanging out during today's spare time at Trader's Rest and playing with ED shipyard. Did you know that after clicking ED market connector's update it sends your ship data to EDSM (if you have that setup in ED market connector settings) and from EDSM on your 'fleet' tab there's a link provided to Coriolis and/or ED Shipyard for your ships. Click on either link and it opens up the relevant webpage with your engineer mods (with all values) in place. This is really cool and useful.
ED Shipyard seems to be more complete and interactive in this regard and allows you to experiment with your mod values including the values already sent from the fleet ship link at EDSM.
.
I've been messing with this for most of my spare time today and I've decided to go with G5 thermal resistant shields and 4 shield boosters - 3 x G5 resistance augmented and 1 x G5 heavy duty. I'll keep the point defence and add a heat sink launcher. I may have to boost my overcharged power plant to G2 depending on the rolls I get.
Thanks for your advice. All repped.

I went full shield tank, my Dirty Drive is a +33% Optimal Mass and my boost speed is 518 which isn't displayed accurately and my weapons are 4 Phase Sequencing Gimballed Pulse Lasers and a Corrosive Round Gimballed Multi-Cannon.

Over all shields are 2050MJ's and my only weakness is Thermal which is only at -1.9% resistance.

I've thought of switching from Reinforced Shielding and Heavy Duty Boosters to Thermal Resistant Shielding and Resistance Augmented Boosters but looking at the beta changes and how broken Plasma Accelerators are is going to make shield tanking almost mandatory. Especially since many NPC ships run multiple Plasma as it is already they are going to become a serious problem as Plasma currently bypasses resistances which in this situation 2000+MJ's with lower resistances > 1200+MJ's with high resistances.

Resistances by the way cap at a maximum of 75% and once you breach the 50% mark you hit diminishing returns so an additional 50% resistance will only equate to 25%.

Additionally and I need some incite on this because I don't have access to the beta ( I'm a console pleb) the patch notes said something about Shield Booster diminishing returns being capped at 150% boost instead of 550% or something like that, now does that apply to the ships over all shields of just the maximum possible bonus to shield boosters?
