I am torn between the FerDL and the FAS for a dedicated PvP ship. Any input is appreciated, thanks. o7
PvP FerDL versus FAS for PvP?

Fdl, has way better shields, about as maneuverable as fas, faster than it as well
take the fas since you obviously can't spell fdl ...
just joking. try both. fdl is the pvp ship but it's about what you enjoy best.

Every ship can be a PvP ship if you play to it's strengths and know how to fly.
FDL is a lot easier for starters.
FdL is ubiquitous. Go for some variety! 
Both are potent combat ships when built well. A well-flown hull tanked FAS is pretty much my worst nightmare when I'm in an FDL.
I would give the edge to the FDL though, more utility slots, and shield is king.

I am thinking I will switch the roles of my two, refit the FerDL for PvP and the FAS for hunting aliens where the hull tanking may come in handy. The FAS coincidentally can fit 4 weapons . . . o7
II my self went with the FAS for PvP with 4 Frag cannons.

Normally just strait up shield tank till my shields go down ( and try to ram ) then i switch over to Silent running when my shields go down depending on the fight.
If the other player is always keeping his distance then i silent run
if hes always close then i let my shields regen.
if you want a hull tanking for Aliens you are better off getting every other FED ship over the FAS. Corvette --> Gun SHip --> Drop ship --> FAS
the FAS is mostly good because of its agility ( PvP ) it suck in everything else. so if you want a hull tanking for PvE (aliens) any of the other ships are MUCH better.

It all comes down to pilot preference, really.
Both are fantastic, and probably the most common in terms of medium PVP ships.
Edit to add: The FAS is far cheaper to purchase and outfit. You'll have about 80-100 mil into one, depending on loadout.
Cheaper rebuy if things go wrong, too.

Both are excellent ships OP. I have both in pvp fits. Oddly enough the only advice as can give is to choose the one you enjoy the most and stick with it a while. With proper modding speeds are comparable with a slight edge given to the fdl. Fdl also has all those utility slots and massive potential for shields and overal better firepower.
The FAS is weird because it just works well when you get it working. On paper it is hands down the weaker ship, but in practice it comes down to piloting.
Lastly, they have vastly different flight characteristics. If you’re anything like me, if you get decent with one, you will end up getting terrible with the other. They just handle very differently.

umm... not sure why everybody thinks the FDL has a better weapon loadout than the FAS...

Your all overlooking the Huge Gun on the Assault Ship aren't ya..... (perhaps you don't know what station to outfit it at?)

I presume this is humour? I mean, I like my FAS more than my fdl and think a fight between the two actually comes down to piloting, rather than a stats win but... well I don’t get the joke.

Ramming is not what it used to be when shields are down, and the FAS drops it’s shields rather often.
The FAS doesn't have a huge hardpoint, it only has 2 medium and 2 large.
A FDL with engineered biweaves and stacking shield boosters for resistances is the way to go, G5 DD's and nothing can out turn you.
I have a FDL but it's not engineered at all, currently I'm using the clipper, but I haven't PvP'd in ages.

He means the ability to ram which it is no longer quite as powerful at as it once was. The joke is off by a handful of updates.
