FGE - roadway to the stars - colonize significant stretches of unreached space

Hi there FD, real pleasure playing your game.

So we're here with the FGE, and one of our plans, even from beta, was to colonize significant stretches of unreached space, all in the hopes of making a significantly easier place that explorers could base from, traders could get rich from local community goals, and combat fighters could be called to, in a pinch.

Our long-term goal, and that of our allies in the AEDC and the MM groups, is to push a stretch of colonized space into the void between the galactic arms, and into the inner rings.

It would give humanity (I'm actually roleplaying very hard with your game, thanks, by the way!) the ability to field combat ships throughout most of the galaxy. The Asp and the Anaconda, at the moment are basically it if you want a ship that can traverse to the inner arm of the galaxy, and still be fully combat capable.

Once the Xenos expansion comes out, I imagine humanity can be friends with many species. But we're definitely going to have some enemies! If we can reach the inner ring of the galaxy, we can field ships in much better condition, geared for combat. We could potentially pressure their home worlds while the rest of the players are fighting for their lives under constant attack back in the human bubble.

And aside from that, it's just cool, and a worthwhile pursuit for a group that is intentionally focusing on exploration and new discovery. The metal rich systems and terraformable worlds along the way should be very profitable, and I imagine it could grow some healthy economies.

We don't yet know how you balance population, whether it is a metric you keep track of. If it is, then we'll have major work on our hands also ferrying passengers out here.

For us, we'd like to give the people who aren't mega-rich a chance to do well for themselves. On a new planet, the land is cheap, and the metal reserves are plentiful. Good place for people to start a life for themselves. We actually believe in the principles that science, and abundant untapped resources can make everybody happy. Which should be the aim of society.

As a group, we're very independent, with some support for Alliance, Federation, and Empire, but we intend to share our support in a peaceful way.

So when we voted to create our colonization push, we decided that we needed to mix independent, Federation, and Alliance systems in our push. Unfortunately Empire space has poor stars nearby, so it wouldn't be a very viable place to push from. So we settled at a area of the human bubble, and started working on forcing them into expansion status

We ran into a dilemma though with our plan. The random RNG process in a mixed colonization means that a lot of our hard work would be eaten with cool down timers while the factions expand into already colonized space.

In any case, in the end only a diplomatic genius could get all these people to cooperate. And we hope that having secured the support of a major Federation player group, as well as a major Alliance group, that you could create that scenario. Our allies and partners in the Merchant Marines and the Alliance Elite Diplomatic Corps would like to extend our support for this plan.

With regards to why we are doing this, we as a species are a very curious race and exploring is in our blood. Also you could say that David Braben or a member of the community (deep space explorer) has had reports of an unknown contact out in deep space and has been dispatched in the ambassador role to make contact with them.

The questions would then be are they human or alien and whether they are hostile or not?

The FGE would be glad to help with providing support by a fleet of ships and we can see some very nice press videos and highlight reels in the future.

**************************************************************************************************************************************

We also envision creating a power out of this, we're thinking a humankind famous exobiologist, or some other kind of scientist. Big deal, really important research that's invaluable and shared between humanity, incredibly important patents, that sort of thing.

Thinking like an Einstein of their day, but without the social abnormalities. Diplomatic genius (how else to get all those people to agree not to fight?). If this person runs, say, the best University in humanity, catering to a mix of people, would the Federation and the Alliance cozy up and play nice, knowing that the research was invaluable? That could be a good starting position for generating a character bio. A fantastic, super meritocratic university could also provide something that both Alliance and the Federation need badly enough that they would agree to play nice. And that's research. It's the only negotiating position a single, independent minded person could have that would shape so much policy.

In any case, in the end only a diplomatic genius could get all these people to cooperate. And we hope that having secured the support of a major Federation player group, as well as a major Alliance group, that you could create that scenario.

Interesting read, as a faction specific module/ weapon If this were to become a power id like to see theirs as an FSD booster that gives 5% increased jump range per booster ( as a utility module)
So most ships maxed out would get around 20-30% increased jump range after 4 weeks with the power

If we could get something like that for the power, it would be a good thing.

I would love to see this in the game. I can see it operating kind of similarly to how the International Space Station works. With help from across many different factions for the well being of mankind. I can also see a ton of fun mission of supplying the stations and moving people. Yes. Please do this. Also I would love to have a place or two to stop for some tea and biscuits when out in space :)

Greetings again from [MM]!

Also, I wanna see a potential FGE with a faction-specific FSD. Maybe a combat FSD that has a lower base jump range, but is less affected by increased mass, so it gives a net gain in jump range on heavier ships compared to conventional FSDs.

Great group guys. Sounds totally up my street- colonisation mechanic should be a big part of the game come planetary landings, though for now I wonder if your efforts might be a little bit premature. If you're heavy roleplayers then maybe you won't mind so much that the game isn't set up for this just yet.

Anyway, I'd love to be part of an effort to colonise planets in the future... taking terraform machinery down to suitable candidates, TES, metals, all the resources necessary for setting up camp. Nurturing the system and watching it grow. I'd love to return to planets from time to time and fly over new agricultural fields, see new building clusters, lights, mining operations, signs of life. Seeing that population figure growing...

Good luck commanders!

If anything, I can vouch for Wishblend and the rest of TFGE to be trustworthy with this lofty goal. We just mostly want to explore. I will be returning from a +/- 18000LY trip soon and except for a few tests in the Beta version the whole of Powerplay has still passed me. But if a power would be really Exploration geared consider my pledge as a certainty. I really hope FD have a look at this and respond in due time. And don't think that there aren't that many people behind it because of the lack of posts here. The TFGE FB group currently has almost 2000 members.

The FGE were my first friends when I joined this game. They can indeed be trusted and their goals noble. I also endorse this plan as being good for the game, and for providing something for similarly minded players wanting to contribute towards a common goal.

Many scouts, explorers and trailblazers have been out along often well-trodden paths., including the now heavily visited routes to Sagittarius A*. It is a shame if the major factions do not take advantage of this and actively set up new colonies and new economies along these new territories.

Example:- Basic guide for expansion into a new system with colonisation

A question for the devs:-

While I understand that the game is always under development, could they please layout a basic route on how to create a player backed power or how a non power backed faction can get station / planarity bases built out into unknown space.

For example:-

Basic guide for expansion into a new system with colonisation.

Step one:- find / Choose a start system.

Step one A:- for a faction / system to be eligible for expanding into a new system, thier population must have reached and passed a threshold (insert number here)

Step two:- Build up the controlling interest of a faction to 75% to generate boom / expansion (note:- if you do loads of trade during this phase, then it will go into boom before expansion)

Step three:- Selecting a system to expand into, using the powerplay method of expansion to select a new system

Step four:- Once a system has been selected for expansion by vote (powerplay method) a community goal is generated for the construction of a space system in the selected system

Below info from the Mercs of Mikunn post of ed forums, link provided.

Mercs of Mikunn: Breakdown of the Local Community Goal - What can YOUR group accomplish?

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=138947

Phase 1: Mercs pushing the community goal only – What can a dedicated and active group of 40 do?
Phase 2: Alert allied factions – What can a small group of 40 push with some allied support?
Phase 3: Attempt to mobilize reddit – What can a small group with allies, reddit, and frontier forums accomplish.

First phase occurred over the first 28.5 hours, the second phase lasted to the 53.5 hour mark, and phase three lasted for the following five days. I gave phase three larger time period because I assumed it would take that group a longer time to ramp up and “plateau”. I assumed that each phase would have sign-ups that would gradually taper off as the possible pool of CMDR’s dried up.

Obviously, a LCG where I tested each group individually would have the most accurate results; however, I wasn’t sure if I would have this opportunity again so I tried my best to squeeze the different groups into one event the best way I could. The data is included in the references above.

The Tiers – based off a series of info and very educated guesses and may be off slightly but not much
First tier: Success (Station Built): 100k
Second Tier: Repair Refuel: 500k
Third Tier: Economy/Market : 1 million
Fourth Tier: Better Economy and Market : 5 million
Fifth Tier: Bestest Economy and Market : 10 million
Sixth Tier: Standard Outfitting : 20 million
Seventh Tier: Better Outfitter : 40 million
Eighth Tier: Standard Shipyard : 80 million

Step five:- A station is build in the selected system (depending on the amount of mental transported in the community goal, will depend on the size of the station of its facilities)

Step six:- Importing new colonists (This would be done using passenger missions -- not in the game at the moment)

Step seven:- Note - If not enough passengers are transported to the new system during the passenger mission phase - the station could go into decline and possibly get taken over by pirates ect..

Step eight:- Expansion by colonisation complete.

There is no step nine, but you can just repeat the above for the next system and so on.

Sounds great for the galaxy; I'll love it in Solo...

FGE were the first player group I joined up with back in gamma. Their interests and goals align well with my preferred play style.

Like many returning explorers, I've not pledged to a Power because I don't want to limit my ability to move around in exploited systems.

The colonisation aspect is something that I always hoped would get fleshed out and streamlined. Using the PP expansion mechanism to direct activities (chose system, terraform, populate, build station) would be a good way to get people like me involved (as opposed to on the fence for PP).

It's no coincidence that worlds can be terraformed. Let's use them and explode humanity out to the stars! :)

The FGE was the first group I was drawn to and joined when I started playing this game. Unfortunately the game mechanics didnt encourage (at all) the kind of big collaborative exploration and logistics gameplay that this group envisioned. I hope that at some point in the future of the game, cooperative and skill-based exploration will introduced. Perhabs it could be in the form of this project here?
