Hi there FD, real pleasure playing your game.
So we're here with the FGE, and one of our plans, even from beta, was to colonize significant stretches of unreached space, all in the hopes of making a significantly easier place that explorers could base from, traders could get rich from local community goals, and combat fighters could be called to, in a pinch.
Our long-term goal, and that of our allies in the AEDC and the MM groups, is to push a stretch of colonized space into the void between the galactic arms, and into the inner rings.
It would give humanity (I'm actually roleplaying very hard with your game, thanks, by the way!) the ability to field combat ships throughout most of the galaxy. The Asp and the Anaconda, at the moment are basically it if you want a ship that can traverse to the inner arm of the galaxy, and still be fully combat capable.
Once the Xenos expansion comes out, I imagine humanity can be friends with many species. But we're definitely going to have some enemies! If we can reach the inner ring of the galaxy, we can field ships in much better condition, geared for combat. We could potentially pressure their home worlds while the rest of the players are fighting for their lives under constant attack back in the human bubble.
And aside from that, it's just cool, and a worthwhile pursuit for a group that is intentionally focusing on exploration and new discovery. The metal rich systems and terraformable worlds along the way should be very profitable, and I imagine it could grow some healthy economies.
We don't yet know how you balance population, whether it is a metric you keep track of. If it is, then we'll have major work on our hands also ferrying passengers out here.
For us, we'd like to give the people who aren't mega-rich a chance to do well for themselves. On a new planet, the land is cheap, and the metal reserves are plentiful. Good place for people to start a life for themselves. We actually believe in the principles that science, and abundant untapped resources can make everybody happy. Which should be the aim of society.
As a group, we're very independent, with some support for Alliance, Federation, and Empire, but we intend to share our support in a peaceful way.
So when we voted to create our colonization push, we decided that we needed to mix independent, Federation, and Alliance systems in our push. Unfortunately Empire space has poor stars nearby, so it wouldn't be a very viable place to push from. So we settled at a area of the human bubble, and started working on forcing them into expansion status
We ran into a dilemma though with our plan. The random RNG process in a mixed colonization means that a lot of our hard work would be eaten with cool down timers while the factions expand into already colonized space.
In any case, in the end only a diplomatic genius could get all these people to cooperate. And we hope that having secured the support of a major Federation player group, as well as a major Alliance group, that you could create that scenario. Our allies and partners in the Merchant Marines and the Alliance Elite Diplomatic Corps would like to extend our support for this plan.
With regards to why we are doing this, we as a species are a very curious race and exploring is in our blood. Also you could say that David Braben or a member of the community (deep space explorer) has had reports of an unknown contact out in deep space and has been dispatched in the ambassador role to make contact with them.
The questions would then be are they human or alien and whether they are hostile or not?
The FGE would be glad to help with providing support by a fleet of ships and we can see some very nice press videos and highlight reels in the future.

We also envision creating a power out of this, we're thinking a humankind famous exobiologist, or some other kind of scientist. Big deal, really important research that's invaluable and shared between humanity, incredibly important patents, that sort of thing.
Thinking like an Einstein of their day, but without the social abnormalities. Diplomatic genius (how else to get all those people to agree not to fight?). If this person runs, say, the best University in humanity, catering to a mix of people, would the Federation and the Alliance cozy up and play nice, knowing that the research was invaluable? That could be a good starting position for generating a character bio. A fantastic, super meritocratic university could also provide something that both Alliance and the Federation need badly enough that they would agree to play nice. And that's research. It's the only negotiating position a single, independent minded person could have that would shape so much policy.
In any case, in the end only a diplomatic genius could get all these people to cooperate. And we hope that having secured the support of a major Federation player group, as well as a major Alliance group, that you could create that scenario.
