Fighter cosmetics in CQC

Just another idea to slightly entice more people to play in CQC. Allow paintjobs, weapon and engine effects. Pretty standard. Might help.

Not nearly as much as:
  • Allow purchase of unlocked CQC ships in base game
  • Award worthwhile materials/ credits to CQC winners
  • Unlock higher ranks of NPC crew to hire directly based on your own CQC rank
  • Offer NPC crew discounts based on CQC rank (sort of like an employee discount)
  • Offer missions in base game for CQC rounds/ targets with scaling pay based on server population to bring players from one mode into the other.
  • Offer CQC weapons in game
  • Show server population and active games so players can pick the right mode or let players que for all modes.
  • Allow players to fly empty servers while they wait for the game to start or allow them to cue up in the base game.
  • NPCs in CQC.
  • CQC waypoints that affect faction influence.
  • Free to play CQC.

etc etc ad infinitum. frontier has been given more than enough suggestions over time to completely revitalize this game mode and have it add to the overall scope of elite, shifting public impressions that the game is a big boring grind full of dull trade routes and scanning.

Yeah, I don't think CQC was a waste of time to implement and I don't think FDev should treat it like a throwaway feature. There are a lot of good CQC suggestion threads which could revitalize it and which also show people ARE interested in it if it could be tweaked a bit.

Even some tiny tweaks, like offering ARX as CQC rewards, could breathe new life into it.

I like the idea of CQC, and my ego wouldn't let me fly around with that "Mostly Helpless" on my right hand panel. So I played long enough to get to "Novice," which small time investment put me in the top 200 CQC listing on Inara at the time.

I'd love to see FDev revisit CQC.

Indeed, tons of things could be done. I remember that back in the '90s for the Xwing vs Tie-Fighter games we used to add some NPC wingmen so we wouldn't end just chasing out tales for 30 minutes, that made wonders for gameplay.
