I have 2.2 running at least as well as 2.1 now, so it would seem my problems with performance earlier were "first-run blues".
I have a pretty serious problem right now though: I can not access any menu.
The menu screens (ESC) are very slow anyway, but after switching from a deployed fighter back to the mothership, NONE of the menus work. I can not get any of the in-ship displays via their assigned keys, nor can I cycle them. ESC is not working either, so I can not access the ED menus. Right now I'm in the middle of space and unable to do anything.
I'm going to try force-quitting E: D and hoping nothing bad happens. BRB...
