Fighter with abrasives blaster

Hi all
Before the mining update I've allways mined in my t9
slow but big load all so can hold a fighter for protection
After mining update
I struggle to get t9 in thos tight spots if a mining fighter to use abrasive blaster save scrapping my paint on thos astroids and jump in fighter to score tho core astroids

Would be nice to see, but Id imagine it would be difficult to do the AI for a mining fighter.

There's also the other developmental overheads that would be required, such as adding a trade rank to our crew as it wouldn't make sense for combat rank to affect mining ability.

In short, although the idea is good, we aren't likely to see it before we see a full overhaul of crew mechanics

Would be good to be able to leave crew in main ship collecting and you have to pilot fighter
Or can only be used with muilty crew
Would change mining for the better

The way I see it such an addition wouldn't rain on anyones parade, its not going to tip the combat meta, or make a new means of ganking, indeed, mining is the ultimate PvE activity, you are shooting rocks.... And as has been commented here it would make mining more fun, and enjoyable as part of a crew. I was also wondering about a prospecting SLF, essentially a ship that can fire a retractable probe onto an asteroid, scan its contents and share that with the wing/crew/mothership? It could then tag the asteroid as being one worth mining or one to skip, before moving on to the next one. Again this tweak would end up meaning mining could be done as a fun activity in multicrew, one participant in an abbrasion blasting SLF, another in a prospecting one, and the host at the helm of the mother ship full of other mining tools (lasers, limpets, seismic charges, reningery, etc...).

Combat rank also determines how well they use fixed weapons. Abraision blasters aren't available in gimballed(I really wish they were because I'm tired of my anacondas sheild dying while blasting surface deposits

Could have 2nd fire group as a lazer tag like tracker for limpets to plot to safely
Sometimes fragments end up in complicated places where it needs a human hand to fish them out. Limpet pathing has already improved immensely, but it has its limits. The second fire group could be used to spit out the collected fragment.

Mixed feelings on this one. It would be nice, useful, etc. But there's one single aspect why i am not fully convinced: Squeezing in between rocks currently is the one and only gameplay activity, where a smaller ship actually can be of advantage. It can be done with bigger ships, but small ones just can do it more easily.

With the suggested fighter, the game would change. Once again there'd be no reason to use a smaller ship. Rather bring your T9, deploy the collector limpets and use the smaller SLF for the work between the chunks of the cracked rock.

So it's a give and take. The proposed SLF would be a nice tool, surely add some flavour. But it would also shift the "mining meta" massively towards big ships.

If you did take a fighter it's drops the amount off cargo by 32 tons upwards I think it is depends on how good you flying is.
Shields would pop realy easy on fighters

Shields don't matter that much. The rocks rarely shoot at you. And a T9 minus 32 tons of cargo still can carry a lot more than my Cobra MK IV. So yes, in a way a big ship with mining SLF would be the best of both worlds. Definitely useful and fun. Just not sure if it'd be a good idea, to kill the last thing where bringing a ship of smaller size can be a good choice.

I am using a aspx at moment but if mining everything I am full in second
I all way think off mining as large equipment if solo mining I would still bring a medium size ship
But as a team has to be large ship if mining out off bubble as well

I get the drift. I am not saying that it's a bad idea per se. I just say that we also have to be aware of the price.

I do like the idea of it being a power play option
Price and how much the macanic behind it or to balance van only go in size 7 or 8 slot so it takes up 250 tons off cargo to fit it
