Fighting in conflict zones vs. your standing in the Fed or Alliance

If you fight in a conflict zone and the warring parties are from a Fed planet and a Alliance planet if you choose to side with the Alliance does that make you wanted in the Federation? Does it make you wanted at any Federation planet?

What if both warring parties are Alliance, does choosing to side with once and shooting down another Alliance planets ships get you wanted at all Alliance planets?

I would like to know how this works before I choose a side and start fighting.

It does not make you wanted. However if you pick feds (and I could be wrong) your fed standing shows an up arrow. I believe that was the cause in my case anyway.

It'll only decrease your standing in that specific empire. And I've never seen two warring factions belonging to the same empire, but I suppose that could exist.
