Fighting Scythes and heat issues

Been fighting Scythes a lot lately and every now and the, for no apparent reason, my ship over heats. I haven't nailed it down why... Does the Scythes have some kind of heat generating weapon?

Yeah i noticed this too.. my heat suddenly spiked to like, 600%, where I'd not peak more than 120% for the same amount of constant firing.

Is there any chance you’ve accidentally triggered silent running while engaging it? I’ve seen it be the culprit behind a few ‘Why is my heat in the high triple digit/low four digit range suddenly” questions.

Especially if you use the Azimuth modified multis with their higher thermal load…

I`ve noticed this too, popping heat sinks like no ones business even with thermal vent beams on it

now that i think about it isnt it from the missiles? i vaguely remember getting heat from titans missiles, perhaps these little buggers are doing it as well...

I'd guess they'd have worked this out when they turn silent running off after ;)

No, it's the first thing I look for when the heat goes crazy. I do use silent running to cook the goop off and with the Azmith multis, it don't take long!

Well, if you were using those anyway, it does sound like the culprit was low distro power. But I’m the ‘cover all bases’ type for this kind of thing, so was just trying to be sure.

I could also have guessed modshard usage without heatsinks, but assumed that Guardian weapons weren’t in use here. Apparently Scythes don’t have the anti-Guardian field though, if that’s something you’d like to consider.

I've been running into the occasional Glaive so I don't really want to do guardian anything. Kind of a shame as I did the grind for them and they are useless against the Glaive. I've tried the guardian module reinforcements against Scythes and I can't detect any real difference between them and the standards.

I've been working my tactics against the Glaive and have managed to beat them with 70% Hull left, so I'm getting better.

They offer no real benefit imo - it’s a not insignificant power demand increase for like… what? 35 extra health for the size 5 reinforcement compared to the standard human one? Never thought about it pre-Glaive but now, well, I’d just replace and sell the Guardian ones for AX builds especially.

Yeah, I've got a ton of them clogging up storage.
