Final Fantasy VII Remake E3 announcement

Sadly the games industry seems to becoming obsessed with sequels, new ideas are too risky.

Elite I irrationally exempt from this criticism :)

Not just the game industry, but also the movie industry. Sequels and remakes are standard today. Probably cuz it's easy money. ;)

OOOOOOOHO YEEEAAAAAH BABY!!!!!

Final fantasy lost its flare (for me) long time ago, but always have I dreamed of a modern remake of this historic masterpiece!
I cant help be anything other the overly superhyped for this as FFVII is one of the best and fondest memories I have in my gaming life...

...And that is also the problem. The MEMORIES of it is great and maybe they should remain just memories. A remake, how much ive wished for it, will have a very thin line to thread unless its to become an utter disappointment and gigantic failure (to me personally) so thee is a small sliver of anxiety about it as well.

Whatever the case, unless they change the story of it, this will at least be a way for the younger audience to be told this epic and wonderful story.

This is great news, if it's a full remake

FFVII has to be one of the best games I've ever played, the story was so engrossing.

Will be keeping an eye on this for sure

...snip...
I know exactly what you mean.
The memories I have from FF7 will follow me to the grave. I loved this game so much.
And it would be so easy for Square to destroy it.
The last thing I want is Final Fantasy 7 with FFX style and actors.
Steam re-released FF7 a while back, and it sucked. High res blocky models in low res 2d backgrounds.

I'm hoping that they will keep the play style and the story, but upgrade the graphics to 2015 standard. So basically the same game, but cranked up graphics.

The last FF game I liked was FFIX. But it didn't reach the level of FF7. It simply is one of the best games ever made.
It's number two on my personal list... ;)

Yes!
Update graphics and sound and make everything as good as 2015 technology and scenography can give us!

But keep the gameplay and game mechanics more or less the same. I can take small changes and tweaks, FFVII in all its glory still had things to improve, but for the love of everything DONT change the core of the game.

I too will remember VII until the end of my days, it together with a select few games is among the most fond memories that media can give me.

Chiming in with a new gameplay footage of the remake. Seems like Square has modernized FF7 with modern gameplay mechanics. And voices.
At this point it's very hard to let go of the original game but I think I need to in order to even give the remake a chance. :)

This will probably be the only reason for me to buy a PS4. This and Horizons: Zero Dawn. :)

giving this remake a chance, hahahahha

I was super excited about this remake when they first announce it but since then it been one disappointing announcement after another.

So far all this game is showing me are all of the reasons why I haven't played a FF game since the massive disappointment that was FF10.
