Finally (achieved Elite in Trading)

After many months (I started a week or so after release, I think) of very casual play, I finally hit Elite in trading a couple nights ago. The timing of it was a bit unexpected, and it was nice to see the pop-up message (even if it didn't say "Right on, Commander!" :D.

So, now that that's taken care of, I've got two more ranks to go.

I've parked my trusted Anaconda, and am currently about halfway to the Eagle Nebula, as a practice run for a more extended exploration trip.

Many thanks to the few folks I've gotten help from over the last months (mostly via forums - I still don't have a single friend in-game :( ).

If anyone's just starting out and needs/wants some mentoring, I'd be happy to pass along a few things I've learned that might help you avoid some of the silly and costly mistakes I've made!

Cheers!

Congrats. I'm curious, nothing more... did you do it in Open, Solo or Group?

Mostly group (Mobius). When I started I played solo primarily while I stumbled around and figured out what I was doing. After a while I joined the PvE group and played there primarily. I would say I spent maybe 5% of my time in Open, and most of those times, I only venture there when I'm set up for combat. Honestly though, the little corner of populated space I've been quietly trading away in sees very little player traffic.
