Finally back from the Black - made Elite Explorer......so now what ?

After a long stint in the black,finally made it back to civilisation - remembered how to dock, but there was genuine panic when other ships seemed to be converging as I made my approach to the station.

With a Diamondback explorer - I just cashed in 83m and its finally Elite exploration - and yes you do see pretty things, you do see interesting eclipses, doubles, triples, blackhole bonanza 1000m above the galactic plane etc..... but crikey exploration is REALLY a commitment, so think REALLY hard if you want explorer Elite. Its definitely the long haul - and if you are like me: alpha backer, always play OPEN, infrequent player, and it REALLY does pay far less than you expect. And over the period I've made three long hauls, dont think you need to make a run to the centre and scan a few things !

And I hit Elite.....so is there somewhere to go to get 'Elitey' things ?

I am looking forward to getting into a buggy - as they kindly launched Horizons when I was 37k light yrs away on the other side of the galaxy. Thanks to those who helped me on the earlier strategy questions about best trader ships.

So other than getting to trader and combat Elite... are there things an Elite explorer should know with his new found rank ? Should I expect a telegram from Liz ?

You now have access to founders world. All ships and components, and at 10% discount.

It can be a real bummer to get to Elite. It's taken me 8 months to get the yearning for the black again.

I am trying to get some steam going for making an elite prestige system. I mean I could be elite in combat 4 times over. It would be nice for there to be a lengthy treadmill for elite ranks.

congratulations! share your findings with the galactic mapping project and the universal galactic records book ... make a trip of honor visiting all the explorer-friendly player backed minor faction ... put on the decals in the shipyard ... get a srv hangar in any hightech system or industrial) and visit the list of horizon wonders... enjoy!

you have done well, well another target is elite combat and trade, im sure at some point in future some special content for triple ranked players will come up

I opens up elite missions....which are lackluster for exploration rank required (I got my explorer elite first by a long shot, all in one go). They do offer good rank increases though in some cases, so that's a plus.

I've got the same story, Kickstarter backer, returning from a trip tonight with the last data required for Explorer Elite.

My plan was to do a few of the new smuggling missions, gain a Fed rank, then play Skyrim for a bit. When I jump back in, I'll probably follow the 71 stop rares route to see some new places, and get the next trade rank. After that, who knows. There might be another small update with new mission types to try out by then.

Achieved Exploration Elite just before Horizons. I then did a soft-reset (put all your assets in ships and modules, park it somewhere and depart with the basic sidewinder) and am now basically re-enjoying the game from the start: I definitely recommend it! Now just in a Cobra and thinking about going for combat next.

Also, have some fun flying 100% speed with 2 pips in engines, at low altitudes - remember, it doesn't count until your proximity alert is blinking ;)

aha a founders permit - didnt appreciate that. Didnt know about the mapping project, and an explorer list, etc many thanks. I was wondering about content you unlock etc... but will have to see what is added over time. Will see what this SRV stuff is all about and get trading and combat gradually up to Elite. Will hopefully see some of you out there.....just not planning excursions too far from home for a while. :)
