Finally found my Dual Stick (plus) setup

I got the system finally set up (using all the things from the land of lost toys):

2 Virpil Alphas (Left/Right),
Thrustmaster TCA Yoke Boeing Edition,
Thrustmaster TPR Rudder
Microsoft strategic commander
Mouse G502x
Microsoft game controller (setting on the back part of the yoke on a stand making control tilt upward)

57 inch Odyssey Neo G9 Gaming Monitor

KLC 32 inch 4k mini led monitor

The yoke is cut into my desk between the 2 alphas, so the devices are lined up about on the same horizontal line. When i want to dual stick the yolk is not in the way, when I want to yolk the dual sticks are not in the way and rudder pedal is placed so all devices could be used without moving anything. All of this stuff works well in VR. All of this is centered around a gaming chair. Dual monitors stack on top of each other. (separate stands)

Ship:

Thrustmaster tpr - yaw

Alpha Prime Left - strafe up/down, strafe right left. It's primary used for admin functions like landing and things like that menu control, maps. Speed set 100%, 50, reverse 100. Instant setting to allow me to take foot off the gas pedal.

Alpha Prime Right - pitch and roll. Button assignments over there are pretty much combat related stuff, chaff, targeting, weapon groups, sub targeting, flight assist etc

Game Controller for Elites menus system

SRV (most control and fun I've ever had with this setup): turn off flight assist and make sure one button is set for hand brake. It is so much fun driving the srv with the tc yoke...

TC Yoke - forward and backward movement set to throttle full direction

TC Yoke - stick twist set to yaw turning the srv like a steering wheel.

Turret control set to the alpha right yaw / pitch.

Primary fire: right tc yoke trigger, right trigger alpha prime

Secondary fire left tc yoke trigger, left alpha prime

Cargo scoop flip button on tc yoke

Recall ship Xbox One button on tc yoke

4 way switch .. select internal, comm, external, etc..

On Foot:

Microsoft Strategic commander - used for forward or backward movement with assigned buttons for foot stuff.

Mouse G 502x - Aiming and direction for walking and running.

Just thought I'd share...

then I would be able to take my foot off the gas and not need these values on a buttons that allows me to do that.
Woks - sort of - with my setup. Also dual virpils, but I use the ight stick for rotation (all 3) and the left stick with the Z adapter for translation (all three).

But back to the speed control: in ED, the last input wins. I have set up a seconday speed control on the right stick's scroll wheel - 10% increments per click. If I want to use that, I take my hand off the left stick (would be your pedals), then set the thrusters with the right scroll wheel. This way, I can essentially fly the ship in non-combat mode or in SC with the right hand only, left hand only gets used in combat or for landing/take off. As soon as I move the left stick, that one takes over and the setting from the scroll wheel is forgotten.

It would be nice if elite dangerous had a button that you could set cruise control at whatever speed the ship is going, then I would be able to take my foot off the gas and not need these values on a buttons that allows me to do that.
I have cruise control with the VKB NXT sticks, they have set it and forget it throttle wheels at the base of the sticks as well as a toggle wheel I use at 25% steps. The stick itself is used for forward/reverse thrust with the springs in. Release the stick it returns to whatever the throttle wheels are set to. For combat I set throttle to 50%, for landing throttle at 0% and then use the stick for the very maneuverable intuitive 6dof thrusters.

You also use the VKB NXT stick as dedicated throttle if you remove the springs and adjust the clutch damper. Then use another analog control (twist, POV, or left/right floor pedals) as your thrust override.

thanks... I like what the current setup ... it works well for me. Feet doing throttle (gas pedal) just feels like driving a car...lol
