Finally got an Anaconda, really struggling with it

Have a friend waiting in the station as you are leaving watch you leave so they can give you directions on how much room you have in what direction.

Everything that's been said and don't use the pointy end as a reference to where you are pointing. If you look at that you are looking below the direction of travel. Turn on the mouse widget as it shows you the aim point. You can get out with the wheels down but best not - don't boost into the wall if you retract the landing gear. Leave the pad using vertical and lateral thrusters to point at the letterbox, approach slowish, and when happy you got it right speed up to above 50.

Some stations it's almost impossible to get out without being sucked up. Go somewhere else and don't go back

The Anaconda will adjust its position in the slot if you're too low or too high, within reason. You'll read about people having trouble with the Anaconda pulling up during exit and it's usually because they're flying too low. Avoid going super slow or you'll end up stuck. Fly confidently.

Can someone link the video with the guy flying into a station backwards? That relieved any anxiety I had about flying the Anaconda into and out of stations.

Hi

After a long time I have finally got an Anaconda, and I can't fly it! Basically I just cannot get it out of the station without crashing into the gap, just got a 2k fine as I got stuck trying to get out. I have bought a docking computer but that doesn't help me leave! Any advice from veteran Anaconda pilots? Had the same problem when I had a Type 9 briefly, got rid of that and went back to my Python.

launch, logout, log back in, magically back outside the station? Or has that been fixed?

All joking aside - early in alpha/beta when credits were client side I memory modified my cash and fully kitted a 'Conda, this was one of the first problems I encountered (like every new 'Conda pilot?).

The threads might even still be available .. anyway at the time I made a fairly large noise about this exact issue, and at that time the ships shields were made of tissue paper so that little scrape was nearly always fatal.. (which made the launch/exit practice very painful).

IIRC a load of commanders replied with "practice more" and "serves you right for cheating" which was very helpful (sarcasm).

I also recall mention of a launch assistant (kind of like the cargo scoop and landing target thing) to show ship position in the slot.. never showed up..

Its not so important now that ships and shields can actually sustain a bit of a scrape, at the time I wanted a ship made out of whatever Nav beacons were made of they are indestructible..

On a final note - the practice certainly does help, and these days scraping is much more forgiving.

Good luck CMDR, Ima lil jelly.. I finally have a Python now, still a long way from having my own 'Conda. :)

I think this person has lost his Anaconda by now. He can't get out and the 10 minute loitering warning is up. He could have press launch and relogged, that will you you 10 km away from the station. This is a good tip for trading.

if nothing helps, hit the start button and leave the game to mainmenu. get back into the game and you are 10km outside the station ;-)

Quick update guys, I'm doing better, I have now at least found some shields I can use, I was struggling to find some Class 6 shields but I have them now. I still scrape my out but I am confident enough now that I have sold my docking computer, still have to take things very slow going in and out but so far all is well.
