After who knows how long of rare trading, I got to the point where I was comfortable buying a clipper (for the curious, I could have bought a Python if I sold all my assets, but I'm not ready for that yet. One step at a time). Wow this thing is ungodly agile, sounds awesome, the view is great, and has pretty decent cargo space compared to where I was coming from, the ASP.
My main question is what class shield is best suited for trading? I could put a class 3 on it (really don't know how since my minimum mass exceeds it maximum mass capacity) but I'm afraid that might leave me too vulnerable. Not to enemy ships, to my own negligence and stupidity
I like to dock fast and slamming into the walls/poles before the entrance happens more than I like to admit. But I always have full pips to shields and in my ASP I would just bounce off even in a class 3 shield, no scratches to the hull and the shield barely lost a layer. Is the clipper in the same boat or is the mass differences too much?
Also, did they change the rank requirements to get it? I was only a squire (still am) when I purchased it. I was looking at it tantalizingly and noticed no restrictive red text, and as I had the money to get it (providing I strip a few unnecessary things of my ASP) I went ahead and bought it. Was that a bug or did they in fact change it?
