Hardware & Technical Finally got myself a new monitor !

HOLY COW !
This thing is big !

From the moment I got the box I was really surprised by the size of it !
And ultra wide curved screens are just amazing !
I will never be able to go back to a flat screen now. :p
The colors are amazing, very vivid !
When I put my old 22 inches side by side this monster just dwarfs it !

The only downside, the response time of 5ms.

I thought that 5ms would be plenty for having a crystal clear image most of the time.
How wrong I was !
The moment I scroll slightly upwards or downwards there is this very noticeable blurry trail. And I hate that. Next monitor I get will have a GTG of 1ms !
Don't get me wrong, tho, I still love my new monitor ! The old one had these weird black trails every time the image moved on screen. It got REALLY annoying after a while.

Having this thing on my desk is like having 2 screens side by side, its amazing for editing, animation and photoshoping. Unfortunately not so much for games thanks to the GTG, even if Elite looks gorgeous with it and Civilization enters a new dimension.

All in all, quite happy ! [heart]

( sucks for the response time, but oh well !) :(

There has been this message that appears from time to time telling me to use a provided displayport cable or hdmi.

But I am using the cables that came with the box !

Should i get myself a new set of cables ? That would suck tho !

BTW, Display-port or HDMI ? ^^

Cables? Plural? What are you currently using?
Agree, display port, they're $13 canadian dollars which is like $1 in other country's money.

Sorry for the late reply, right now I'm using Display-port.

But I have been shuffling for a while trying to see a difference.

You won't see any I think :) Not sure about current HDMI standards but previously you could only run 4k at 30Hz with HDMI. So that was a limitation. Maybe with newer standard it's not an issue. But it's widely considered to use DP as a better option if there is one.
