Finally got round to do the silly test. :)

Hmm, disappointing. I'd thought an emergency drop from that speed would've spread your particles to the next universe, regardless of what you flew.

Nice , but try this , get up to max speed then switch of your thrusters in the modules panel . Much fun ! I did this by accident when I was arranging priorities on a long distant cruise.

The Galaxy is not enough Dangerous.
You could only die of enemy fire, crash or overheat. But all those reasons is a human factor.

Shouldn't you fly through the cockpit glass anyway? I mean, at 2001c it should drop out and decelerate quickly, but from 2001 x light speed to 300 m/s is a very fast drop

*sarcasm* Wow.

So it is just time acceleration like in Elite: Frontier,
nothing else, otherwise you'd have seen the light
at the end of the frameshift tunnel.

Don't tempt the fool! I might do just that - with a T9... :D

Lol, I've tried it a few times.

@Op, try it again with a slightly damaged ship, make sure your Canopy is also slightly cracked. Watch what happens when you do a high speed drop :)

I think there should be a limit to drop out of SC.
Let's say up to 200c?, if you're above you have to slow down in order to drop.

Nothing really happened. :S Didn't see cracks on the canopy, but got "canopy compromised" when doing an emergency stop, next emergency stop just gave more damage.

So yes, here's the T9 testing, four 2001c drops in a row. [yesnod]
1st by thrusters off, 2nd by FSD off and 3rd & 4th by emergency stop.

Had military grade composite for added mass + 532 tonnes Tantalum in hold for same effect. Modules a mix of E, B & A rated ones.

Would kinda defeat the purpose of performing an emergency drop. The ship can receive damage at high SC speeds, a random factor seems to be calculated, if your ship is in poor condition the higher level of damage it will receive from the drop.

Ah, I was talking about a heavily damaged ship doing a drop. I did a few tests, left silent running until my canopy was quite badly damaged, some modules and hull down below 50%. Did a drop and the canopy blew out on me, lost thrusters and FSD. Had to reboot and limp home.

Would be more entertaining if really high SC speeds had a chance of ship destruction, even when flying mint condition ship. Some random element thrown in, having module health, module integrity ratings, SC speed & reason of dropout as factors.

There's a wee bit of difference between "slightly damaged" and "heavily damaged". :)

Got the cargo htch to malfunction (without dropping any of my cargo :S) when doing emergency stop at hull about 80% % canopy below 60%.

Thanks for sharing the results, btw. :)
