Finally made Elite in Exploration, 1 down 2 to go !

EliteExplorer_confirmed.jpg
It's taken 4 or 5 trips to the Neutron cluster and a trip to Sagittarius A, but i finally did it.......... I'm an Elite Explorer
12,240 systems and approximately 200,000Ly and I'm there......
I have really enjoyed the over 1250hrs it's taken me so far to get here.
Now to complete my Elite trader then try and learn to fight
1 out of 3 ain't bad :D

Great for you :) Congrats.

Exploring is just a waaay to boring for me - can't find myself happy because of unusual planet, extra large gas giant, etc. Exploring, after few days starts to get me really depressed realizing how far I am from any dot on radar. Once I turned back after maybe a week or so away and just flew back straight to Sol - just to see Earth for a while ...

Even trading is better. You can drop it off at any point, get to do some missions, shoot someone, etc. Exploring is pretty hardcore, at least now.

Yes and no, i built a collage of my exploring and had it printed on a 48" x 27" canvas.
I like exploring it relaxes me but i think i'll do it as a side event now with mining and trading.
I still want to explore, but I certainly won't be going on any long trips until i get all 3 Elites.

Congrats, know from first hand experience it is an absolute grind doing that! The sad part is that with a galaxy of 400 billion stars and the promise of "untold adventure" for an explorer that this is the approach we have to resort to gain Elite in Exploration.

I found like you it was boring, but if i set goals, like getting to Sagittarius A, or going to neutron cluster (about 17k Ly out), I could just do that.
I don't tend to scan complete systems, only ones that interest me, I'm normally a jump, scoop, scan, jump kind of explorer.
The fast pace of jumping in eco mode and scanning with an advanced kept my interest.
Mainly i found i couldn't get to trader elite fast enough, and with 'industrial scanning' and tagging neutron stars i could get to explorer elite first.
I predominantly did it for Founder World access for 10% discounts, but since Powerplay, (today alone I bought 6 ships with 20% discounts) explorer elite and founder access isn't as important.
Certainly continue exploring but it won't be my main focus now.

Exploration Elite is simply a numbers game when you come right down to it for rank alone.
155mil is Elite Explorer, a system wide scan is 1x, surface scanning every object is 2x and first discovery adds an 1x ie making it 3x.
So a advanced scan making you 10,000cr, you tag everything with a surface scan you get 20,000 and if all are 1st discoveries you get 50% more ie 30,000.
So take 155mil divide by your average system scan = no. of systems to scan.
Neutron stars are quick and easy, jump in and tag, with first discovery it's 19kx3 = 57k a system. That's the fastest way to Elite explorer as there are far more neutrons than blackholes (being an extra 3k more).
Some prefer complete scans of all objects, but i didn't have the patience for that. Scan high value objects and jump and scan.

Aren't all Elites like that? Just numbers games?
Trading is certainly, though I realize with Combat it's combined with finding the right (i.e. higher ranking than you) opponents.
Numbers game = good technique + time + persistence + a little luck.

Congratulations!
Thanks, one thing about it... When i started out, 140Ly for a rare trip was a long trip.
Now after taking an Anaconda to Sagittarius A, with a jump a minute roughly for 12-14hrs straight each way (I can often play 12-14hrs straight on weekends, I have a VERY understanding wife) 140 Ly trips around inhabited space is nothing to me now. Taking a step back from long exploring, trading should be a quick breeze now :)

An excellent accomplishment! Congratulations Commander!
Thanks, right time for bed, up in 6hrs for work :-, I'd be triple elite by now if i didn't have a pesky full-time job :)

NICE!!!!!!! Just went to Founders World to park up for the night.... 10% discount no, with Elite ranking I get 12.25%.
Excellent every ship and module in the game. Well worth it in the end.
