Finally off the fence

Yeah i figured out what you meant. at first i thought it was about swapping the foam that's on the actual goggles that sits around your eyes so to speak.
I then realised it's the foam on the head band that wraps around your head and swap front to back. didn't realise that was attached with velcro too. just changed it. same comfort. will launch the game shortly to see if it made a difference.

Welcome on board, literally! :)

The best QOL setting is to turn off the side menus by looking at them, rather set up key binding. It makes looking around so much more comfortable!

They really need a toggle feature so you can bind one button to disable the look trigger for menus. Would make it easy to have the entire cockpit available on the fly when needed.

I have nothing 'look' activated.....it's all done through Astra in Voice Attack....no clutter, nice clear fields of view :)

Warning!!! Prepare to be amazed!
Most commanders end up sitting the docking bay of a larges station for about 10 minutes just watching and being amazed after logging on for the first time...:D

I did that countless times. I still do so sometimes, even after 2.5 years in VR... And Elite is a real eye opener in VR, thats for sure. I actually never touched a 2.5 D game, since i own the Rift.

Wait..there's a slider to offload CPU to GPU? Terrain slider? I must try this!

I use a GTX 1080ti and i have loaded 100% of the Terrain Workload onto the GPU.
This delivers much better performance for me, as the 4790 i7 i own, is the bottleneck of my system.

I am a heretic who plays KB+M in VR, because it not only works, but very convenient. All keys at the fingertips, also I can use chat... though my blind typing is not top notch yet.

There are very few games that provide the same long-term replay-ability of Elite, and a lot of great gameplay is just simply not fitting for VR - yet.
Apart of some cool apps, the only proper gameplay value I found so far (apart of Elite) was L.A. Noire VR. That was sensational though!

Even, after over a year in Elite-VR, I still find myself sitting in the cockpit an enjoying the view from the Landing-Pad. ;)
