Finally sold Big Bertha...

Since Power Play came out, I have found that I have had to relocate my "Home System" once more so that I can sit within my chosen faction.
This is fine - although I would have much preferred to join up the faction my home system was exploited by if it wasn't so terribly terrible at everything - missions, rewards, etc. :p

But in taking the 4-5 hour back and forth of "shipping" my ships from various places in the galaxy to my new home, I realised that I just don't use most of them anymore.
I only ever fly my Clipper and Vulture these days.

So it was time to pack up Big Bertha (The Asp) and sell her for parts.
This was weirdly traumatic in some ways since I have had this amazing ship since my first week in ED and it has always been a stalwart of allowing me to discover all that ED has to offer.

On the upside though, where I assumed I might make 7-8 million from the sale, it turned out I had around 20 million in parts and exchange in that old bird! Result!
So finally finished maxing out the Clipper. :)

That said, I'll definitely be picking up a new Asp at some point to troll the distant stars and explore.
Just not yet.

Good Luck, Bertha! Hope your new owner treats you well! :D

I've not sold a single one of my ships since Beta 3.
The moment they allowed us to keep our earnings from Gamma I began to keep them all, sure it would've saved me a lot of hours of earning enough money for the next ship, but, I just can't bring myself to sell any of them. I've not flown a lot of them in months, they just sit around in their respective stations, but I can't sell them. I've actually not died in a lot of them, so they're literally the same ship I bought half a year ago. :p

Right now I've hit that huge gap where ships go from a few million to the tens of millions. Don't know how long it'll take me to get the next ship ... but I wont sell any of my current ones to lessen the time it takes.

...

Did i get that right, Big Bertha was with you since your 1st ED week? You're a quick earner ;)

It only cost 4.9 million or so back then. Didnt take long. I got my T6 at the end of day 1 then trade ground up to the asp asap.
That was my second goal after the T6.

Yeah ... how did you get an Asp in week one? That should be almost impossible.

Ah. Explained whilst I was posting.

Yeah i keep my ships too. I even have 2 Cobras atm, because i was to lasy to sell it :)
On the Other hand after upgrading to a better ship i rarely use the older one. ATM i only use Python and T9. Vulture, Asp, Imp Courier, Cobras, T6, Adder and Sidewinder are in storage. The biggest mistake was buying that T6 used it 1 hour only i think.
Now i start collecting all ships with A grade parts, so some other useless ships will get stored away ;)

I get you, I sold my Cobra last week, which I've had since beta along with 2 weapons you can't buy any more.
A sad day to be sure, but I'd not flown her since the turn of 2015.
I also cleaned out my other unused ships (10 or so) scattered about inhabited space.

It's not that I needed the credits, like you, PP had kinda forced the move on me.

Moving 15 ships was just a chore.

I do think I'll buy her back at some point though, she was the first best upgraded ship I owned and I will always have a soft spot for her.

While I don't know what the current return rate on trading and Bounty Hunting currently is (as I've not been around for a while), back in 1.2 era you could easily make 1-2 million per hour in a Viper in a Res Site.
I'm happy to accept that may no longer be possible though.
(These things shift around quite a lot)

When I started, you could make huge amounts of money from trading (BH was pretty mediocre). Hence why the target was to get into a T6 as quick as physically possible. :D
From there it was easy.

When I say a day, bear in mind that I played that day for about 12-14 hours or so straight... :D

Seriously contemplating selling Fat Albert (Type-9) over here. I cannot jump two systems without being interdicted 20 times.......It's not good enough that you successfully evade an interdiction anymore.....you just know that it will take you five attempts to approach a station, turning a trip that would have taken 5 minutes into a half-hour marathon. I mean it's guaranteed, you get tagged 2Mm from the station and after the interdicdance, you are guaranteed to be 100Ls away from the station, having to run the gauntlet again. And again.

And again.

I'll return to trading once Fat Albert's overweight cousin gets introduced. That way I'll just run them pesky eagles over.

You monster! How could you sell your ship;)

My Asp, in a lovely Apollo white colour, sits docked at my home port, patiently waiting for me to get the exploration itch again.

Talking about ships, I really should collect my Freagle - it got put nearly 200ly away from my start postition for some reason and i have never bothered to pick it up....

I've bought and sold the Asp three times since I started. It's a really versatile ship and the jump range means you can get around so fast, but now I've got my A-Rated Python, I don't think I'll be back. It was probably my second favorite ship in the game.

I was similarly forced to sell my Asp, the ship I'd spent most time in, when I took part in a CG that gave a discount on Pythons. I was very sad; had to sell her to buy the Python while I still had the discount.

I spend the next few days in the Python making back the money to rebuild my Asp, which I still have, and break out for long range operations.

I'm not sure I'd feel entirely happy not having an Asp stashed away somewhere in the Galaxy, ready to go if things get tough. It has a very comfortable double bunk and the coffee maker isn't bad either.

Three Ships I could never sell... my Clipper, Asp and Python.
All Kitted up and loved.

I have quite a few ships though, I mark places with ships (e.g. If a systems has a RES I buy an Eagle and leave it at the station as a Universe Map marker)

Only been playing since release and currently flying only a DiamondBack Explorer, but have brought and sold:

Owned a Sidewinder, Adder, Cobra, back to the Adder, back to the Cobra, brought a DiamondBack Scout and had some greater Bounty Hunting and now out near the Veil Nebula West in my Explorer.

It's easier not having to worry about ships for me at the moment, as not played enough of the game to call anywhere home.

I have an A rated Python now but there's no way I'll be selling my other 2 ships - an Asp (kitted out for exploration) and a chrome painted 'A' rated Cobra especially as I bought paint packs for all of them.
The Python is a beast but the other ships still have their usefulness.

Sold my chrome A rated Cobra after much soul-searching. We had done so much together. *sniff*

Still not used to my new-ish Courier, and occasionally pine for the old girl. :D
