Finally Witnessed a Station DESTROY a Loitering Ship!

Started hearing a lot of racket just after I had hit LAUNCH and was being turned around. As I came up on the elevator I just had time to see what looked like an Type 6 Cargo Ship get blown to bits inside the station!

As I was making my way out to the airlock I had to actually change course a few times to avoid all the LARGE pieces of wreckage that were floating everywhere inside the station. Always thought their ship destruction policy seemed a little odd, and now I know it is also quite messy to clean up! lol!

Anyone else ever see this happen? Now I know what I looked like when SOLO ORBITER blew up my ship when my Docking Computer went haywire a few weeks ago.

According to my stats, I have visited 871 Systems, and docked with probably 10 times as many stations, and this is the first time I have seen it myself. The huge chunks of cargo ship floating about was the most bizarre aspect. Hard to miss something like that, especially when some of it was between me and the exit! ;)

One notable Loitering enforcement event I witnessed was when an NPC was stuck at the back of the station, just spinning around - like a top. A few minutes later the pew pew happened followed by a big badaboom.

BOOM is RIGHT! lol! That is kind of what happened in my case except this guy was apparently stuck up in the corner of the wall where the airlock slot is and was spinning like that too. Just saw that for a split second before it got blown up, then pieces went flying everywhere! I must say this whole thing seemed rather silly to me. I mean come on! Who in their right mind would handle a situation like this, like that in real life! ;)

I was in one space station yesterday, can't remember where, but I think the game glitches because all of a sudden there is 6 ships taking off and then froze in the station. I hang around with my launch counter on countdown, when I see the first hauler get blown up. I slowly cruise out and because they all were in station about same time, I hear more fire and explosions as I crawl through letterbox, in took up a position 3clicks from station and listened as it blew every single ship left in station lol. I lost 6 contacts in the space of 30 seconds. I have to admit. It did put a smile on my face :)

WOLF 865 MCCULLEY STATION aka MURDER STATION

I hear ships blowing up every other minute. And I don't sit in stations twiddling my thumbs. It happens often. I wonder if it's a type of system that produces a lot of smugglers/wanted NPCs.

I am yet to experience this glorious event but I must say all the stations policies are a bit extreme... Hanging around too much and we blow you up... Bit harsh...

its either you, or the whole station.. Millions of civilians in a station, only need 1 Nuclear reactor core explosion, and it all goes silent. Every ship has one.. i kinda get it.. Entering stations without a deep background scan is pretty awesome already..

Just dont behave suspicious

Yeah but think of the damage caused by the debris

Oddly enough on the PC this was happening almost every time i was going between stations. Here on xbox i see it happen, or hear it lol. Maybe once or twice each play. I think they fixed some AI bugs and are still dealing with them. GOD the AI would do some stupid things back in beta so funny though I'm sure some youtube streamer has put up a vid of elite AI bugs

One of the main reasons is to cut down on player griefing. Imagine a player cmdr in a type 9 just sitting in the mail slot or 2 player anacondas in the mail slot, just sitting there.

Fair enough point but in solo play?

I had the same question. Makes total sense from an OPEN PLAY perspective, but when you are playing SOLO and the number of bugs that can result in you becoming stuck while attempting to dock inside the large stations (especially if you use the often wonky Docking Computer) blowing up your ship seems a bit over the top if you ask me.

I lost one of my first ASPs to just such a DC screwup and it wasn't an enjoyable experience! Especially considering I had arrived at that particular station to sell off 72 tons of RARE ITEM cargo I had just spent over and hour collecting. :(

All lost along with my ASP, for a total loss of well over 3 million credits!

I've seen this a few times now, the latest time was 2 days ago, I took off and on my way out of the station I had to avoid 2 floating chunks of metal.

I don't think I've ever seen a ship destroyed for loitering, but I have been blow up before from not requesting docking permission and have seen it happen to others and it's typically pretty funny.
