Financial Counceling Requested

Financial Counceling Requested (Piracy)

So i understand that many of you might have resentment towards pirates as do I. However, lately I've felt a little complacent in ED lately and I wanted to possibly spice things up by trying this avenue of financial gain.

My question is whether or not it is a viable source of income? Im not talking about comparing it to the money making machine of slave trading because frankly nothing can compare to the amount of money you can make doing those runs with the larger ships.

My problem is that I've done a few piracy runs against some NPCs to get my feet wet and the $$$ I make from the black market is laughable. Is that normal or am i missing something.

Error being the pirate lord everyone says he is seems like he makes enough cash to keep him going. Or is piracy one of those role playing objectives?

Thanks

Piracy is a RP choice only. Doesn't pay well, CMDR's will play Solo if a pirate is around, or combat log. Much like Undermining, if Solo affects the galaxy there's no possible way to stop it. If CMDR's can Solo or log, then why would they ever stay to be pirated? No incentive, no repercussions.
Sorry, I'm a little salty right now as my home system is being mass Undermined in Solo and I can't do a damn thing to stop all the hard work going down the toilet.

Yes Error is your man for advice...he does bemoan the financial reward and is seeking a minimum living wage for his career

I honestly don't think anyone doesn't mind pirates on here. I rather there be some.

However, what people do mind is that when you become a murderer in excessive form (same person over and over, or fighting new ships).

But yes Error would be your go to guy to be a pirate.

Hi fellow commanders!

Piracy is a worthy job, if you can find a good system (i am speaking of npc pirating). Focus on transporters, my average income in the last days is 1,5 mil cr/victims, about 20 minutes from start to black market. I have a not fully upgraded Python for the job with approx. 200 t cargo space. It took some time to find a good spot, but it is a viable income. Sorry for bad english :)

Im no pirate, but i think NPC pirating is more profitable as player pirating..

If i was a pirate however, i would find a system with a nice trade route, Battleweapons, or something like that.. then pirate those NPC T6 ships.. Easy money i would say..

Or pirate those T9 ships in Res sites.. they are loaded with expencive rocks.. lol

Hardly. You might be able to make some nice cash with NPCs now though. Look for stations that exports high value goods. Slaves and the likes. Then you either want to camp the station from supercruise and wait for transport NPC ships or you can go dock wait for a transport NPC have a good jump range and a wake scanner. Then follow them to the system they are going. But I haven't done this probably won't do it myself, not even for a profit.

Back in the days where there were only a few good trade routes (Karid - Orang Bestii - LTT 8517) it was where it was the most fun and the most profit. But it only gave a little profit after using the money on expenses. Combat logging back then was the at it's peak in my opinion.

If Sothis didn't come by well (I would probably be Elite trading by now anyway) but back then in the good old days where people didn't go greedy and looking for very hidden away high value trade routes, I would be trading in some of the same routes as I pirated. This was mostly slave trading. There were times where I would find a nice balance and only trade for as long as I could bare it then go back to piracy, which fit quite well in my bank acount as I never really went under or over. Only trading a lot when going for a new module.

You all have it all wrong, the pirate lord is Karmas Solider our great leader who guides us through the stars with his all great power.

The one who made his pirate group into a kill all and get attention group?

Alright, calm down. There's role playing and then there's completely wild fantasy

Ahhh the good ol days of chasing you around such systems....

it it is true, I hear of very little piracy right now. And any of the trade routs I scout for the clan are getting stripped by the end of the day in most cases.... Trading has changed.

I would really wish they made some changes. Maybe purposfully made a trade route flurish even under heavy stress for a while so us pirates can also have some (profitable) fun.

Step 1: Get PP rank 2 with Hudson.
Step 2: Go do some legit bounty hunting in an RZ.
Step 3: Profit.

^^^ Na if i was still bounty hunting i would have retained my rank 5 with ALD. Bounty hunting was fun, probably my favorite profession, especially when I was hunting players.

This makes me kinda wonder. What did Frontier expect piracy to be like? I certanly hope that this isn't my final form.

That's why I suggested pirate wings, Error. Imagine 3 vultures, pythons, cobras followed by a cutter tuned cargo and a Annie multipurpose. Amazing potential with ability to travel and pirate with the ability to take trade convoys out. I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
