Finding Barnacles on your own

Hello everyone, wasnt sure wheter to put this into Aliens or Exploration but...

I've been flying somewhat aimlessy zig-zag all over the pleiades scanning and mapping all and any metal-rich, high metal and rocky worlds i came across but at the rate i actually find stuff im starting to question my sanity;
Do Barnacles even show up as biologicals on FSS/DSS scans? Is there some better way to find them than, well, blind?

I want to find meta-alloys on my own because someone pointing me to a pickup is no fun or interresting indeed...
Likewise with guardian ruins actually, any good way to find them besides that very vague info on the codex?

Yes, found about 20 last week while looking for new Thargoid Structures (which, somewhat ironically, I did not find). I was looking in systems with Ammonia planets (atmosphere, or planet type). I feel bad that I didn't report them all properly but meh, I was busy :)

is the ammonia planet important? The codex doesnt make any mention of ammonia planets for any of the barnacle types - just nebula: any and terrestial metal-rich, high-metal and rocky. I've been at this for like 4 days now and found nothing, indeed most of the planets i scan dont even come up with geological signals.

Historically, it's been important.
