Finding buying location NO TOOLS (and osmium, mining mission question)

Hello,
Is there a way to find a selling location without using eddb.io or inara or any tool?

realy love deep space mining.. I go away with my fleet carrier, map star sistems to find good mining spots where nobody has ever being but then when I come back I realy hate having to whait that someone docks at a station to see inara update… would realy love to find my own selling points but I’ve being trying and never I managed to find a station that would buy my mineral or metals for a good price…

any suggestions?

Also… I realy like doing mining missions when Im in the bouble but again find it realy hard to find good stations.
I recently notice that fleet carriers are buyng osmium for good price; is it becouse they manage to do missions for profit? Or only for reputation?

thank you

In game when in the commodities screen, the right hand side lists other places that buy/sell.

Thank you SteveWW57 you mean that I can make a bigger search of the area by checking the “also conumed by” to see if near by sistems have better selling price?
and use the information “conumed by: all exept…” to filter wich sistems tipes to check?

thank you

Afterglow yes I know unfortunatly… but there has to be a better way than randomly dok at station and checking commodoties market

In many cases the in game info includes a couple of near locations. Not the best prices though. The place I took the screen shot from only lists one nearby system listed, but other places may show more.

There are places I have found that not only offer good prices for mined stuff, but also have missions to mine them. I would wait until there was a mission to supply Osmium, take it, mine, and sell any excess at the comparable high price to the open market. Or just sell to the market whilst the prices were high.

I found a method many Updates ago (best trading tip on the forums) that I still use routinely to find pre INARA/EDDB info - once people find these the third party tools get updated and they seem to disappear quickly. Sometimes I just do a few run in my Combat/Trade Cutter then move my FC in for loading and sale later.

Prices are affected by stuff like system states, but unfortunately the in-game tools for finding those are also limited. You can try.

Many before you have wanted to use only in-game tools, too. Disappointment follows.

It should be mentioned that trading with carriers, while it can be profitable, does not advance your Trade rank. I would suggest a newcomer should avoid it.

Did not know the FC trading impact to trade rank - good to know. I use this method most often when I find a really low price for something (metals/minerals) I do a quick check for the highest sell market close by. Something fun about clearing 30M for one cutter run.

If you wanted a challenge, I would suggest a no buy fuel at settlements, stations and outposts vs use no external tools to find modules, or buy/sell prices, etc. The in game tools are pretty bad, which is why there are so many great 3rd party tools and websites.

Always having to scoop your own fuel, is still a challenge and will cost you time, but not nearly as much $$$ and time as no 3rd party tools.

I play without using external tools, not even a pen & paper.

From experience I have an understanding of broad rules like what economy type will buy or sell which commodity categories, and if there is a specific commodity I happen to be trading a lot I may have much better idea while I am doing that activity but essentially I just 'know' what is a good price & what's not so good & sell at the best place that I find within a reasonable timeframe.

When I was in Colonia waiting for the delayed update 11 I did a bit of mining just for something to do, and fairly quickly arrived at the conclusion that Platinum was the best thing to mine & that Surface Tourist ports gave a good price. I'm sure I wasn't getting the best price but I was happy with the income; my expectation was not hampered by comparing my price or Cr/Hr with others.

I entirely agree with those that describe the in-game trading tools as bad, but it's only really since carriers and Odd Settlements cluttering the galaxy map filters that make them bad. There are more commodities now too. Too much choice imo.

Missions requiring Osmium are highly lucrative, albeit quite infrequent (they depend on the state of the system).
When you are allied with a faction, Osmium missions pay 350k-357k credits per ton.
When I go mining, I always pick up the Osmium and store it on my FC, to have it ready when I bump into those missions.

Mmmm… just tried, I need to dok at sistems stations to have data? Correct?

The game was designed before the internet and they didnt realise people would just share all the info....
Oh wait thats not true, they just messed up big time.
Assuming that they re-used the original Elite market mechanics you'd even be right. :D

I was thinking about this last night.. didnt know if you where talking in general or towards me since I open this post.. but how can someone own a FC and not be Elite in trading?

I’ve being playing Elite since the lounch of orizion on PS4 (now ps5 but realy thinking of buying a pc…); being comming back to it ever since with a complete flete of overengenired ships ;) 3 cutters (miner, multi use, cargo), 2 clippers (core miner, multy use), 1 conda (long exploration), 1 corvete (heavy fighter), 1phyton (cargo), 1 asp (material hunter), 1 super speed courier (short range explorer/multiuse), 1 diamondback (taxi) , 1 vulture (light fighter), 1 lance (med fighter), 1 beluga (long passenger), 1 Fed assault …. :))) being loving the grind hahaha!! no anti xeno, never got in to it..
I also did a build on my corvette thats fantastick!! all FIXED pulse laser, all own repair sistems so you can stay forever in the battlefield :)))

I realy think this is the best game ever made and I hope it last forever…
the immersion you get its incredible
