Finding fungoids

So I think myself lucky when finding bio samples, got over 600+. But fungoids seems to elude me, only ever had two indirectly when hunting for something else. Tried dropping in on different terrain types in the highlighted areas but come up with nothing. Anyone have some advice in finding them?

Most fungoid species require mountains, and often high mountains - their actual range is often less than the blue zone indicates. Unless you're flying a very small ship, expect to need to find a site, park some way out, and drive back in if you want samples.

Check mountains / hills where SRV can barely move and ship has no chance to land - mushrooms love it. Except red ones, those will grow on flat big surfaces BUT at high altitude too.

Nobody said it, but last time, when I searched it I saw flat, clear terrain, even under my ship.
But when I landed, they rendered.
So they require specific terrain, sure.
But it can be render problem.

Yep, mountainous and steep hilly terrain is where they'll be. The more rocky and jagged, the better. I can usually land pretty close to them with a DBX or i-courier. Anything bigger, and you'll probably have to land some distance away. Occasionally you'll luck out and find them out in the open, but to get all three samples you'll probably need to search the hills.

Yes mountains is a good tip plus these are my stats up till now...

Although there are some that occupy the same regions as conchas, so canyon-like areas.
