Finding gained reputations

I'm just getting back into the game after a long break and I was wondering if anyone was aware of any plans to put in a map filter or journal or some such so we can find the reputations weve gained.

I cant remember all the places I've gone and factions I'm allied with and I'm not aware of any tools that can help me find out who likes me so I can go back and continue working in my old haunts. Clicking randomly around the map and looking into star systems faction lists is a bit of a pain and somewhat frustrating.

Space is really big! :)

If you want to grind rep, you can do it in many many locations with one or more of several mission types which reward medium and large rank rewards.

Now days, though, it's usually not as simple going to a specific system and immediately fast ranking. To get "fast ranking" these days, you almost always need to grind local rep with a hand full of factions in several local systems. That may sound like a pain, but it's not too bad and, in my opinion, greatly enhances the enjoyment of the ranking process.

If you were accustomed to the old very fast, very grindy and very boring ways of ranking, you're probably not going to find that in very many places, if any, any more.

I suggest finding a few systems on the edge of the bubble with good trading between a small number of stations. In those systems, focus on ranking up with all the local factions which are affiliated with the major factions you want to rank up. This is easy to say of course. You may have to try several locations out before you find your favorite.

These days, any specific location which has been broadcast as being a good ranking location has a good chance of not being good any more or only periodically being good. This is because many players flocking to a ranking location soon changes the dynamics of that location due to the Background Simulator (BGS) in the game.

There are most likely some good youtube videos which do a better job of explaining this than I just did.

If anyone has some recent videos about this which they thought were particularly good, I like to know also.

WHOA DUDE! I didn't realize in the previous post that it was the great Cmdr Thrudd I was speaking too!!! Welcome Back!!!

Sorry if the stuff above was too basic and didn't hit the mark of what you asked!

I totally agree that it would be awesome to have a feature in the game which listed your highest ranked factions!

For me, the places with factions who like me best are located mostly around areas where I grinded for my 3 Elite, Engineers and PowerPlay so that helps me remember.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I believe OP was asking if there is a way to tell which systems she/he has ranked up in and/or what local factions those were. Not really about rank grinding.

I'm not aware of any method to view this information unfortunately.

Yes! You'll see that a I realized that in my second post while also making the discovery I was speaking with an old API and Third Party Tool master! Thrudd produced the best tool pre EDDB.io for traders!

Is there an easy and convenient way to do it? No - this is Elite: Dangerous after all.

Is there a really long winded, tedious, soul-destroying way of doing it? Yes of course there is - this is Elite: Dangerous after all.

You can go to the galaxy map and click on the system map for each system you have visited. The summary will show you your relationship to each faction. If you have played since they added the filter by visited star option it makes it a tiny bit easier to find them. If not then you basically have to hover the pointer over each star and see if the system map button is available. It should only take you a year or two to do it.

Great idea.

I'd really like access to that information as well.

Still miss some of the features from your site!

Isn't what you are asking for in the right UI panel?
All that faction rep decays rather quickly.
If you haven't played in a while it won't really matter, aside from your rank.
I get back down to neutral in a few weeks.

I think he wants to find local faction rep, not his superpower rep.

Thanks for taking the time to write the first reply out even though it wasnt what I was asking :)

hehe yeah this is exactly what I've been doing but wasnt sure if maybe there was a feature or tool available that I wasnt aware of and that I might be wasting my time so I thought I'd ask. Sadly a LOT of the places I've visited arent shown as visited, just the ones I've been to since returning.

Agreed. I posted to the suggestions forum on Sunday regarding this exact thing (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/406802-Galaxy-Map-Reputation-Filter). I suggested a galaxy filter, another commander added a voice suggesting entries in the commander log that could be parsed by a 3rd party tool.

Maybe people could add a voice to it?

Cool! I didnt see that, will go lend support to your suggestion :)
