Finding it hard to start. Frontier.

Guys, some important hints:

1. no need to finish the wanted guy in hi res site. All you need is to land a hit every 5-7sec. If he gets blown and you landed a hit in the previous 5-7sec you'll get the cash.

2. Do not get too enthusiastic shooting - he might turn against you at some point ;) Your stock Sidewinder won't like it ;)

3. When you get enough credits to change the ship - NEVER sell the previous ship directly, you'll lose 10℅ on all upgrades.
Sell modules, you've upgraded separately and only then sell the ship.

4. Some stations offer 10-15-20℅ discount. While not important for cheaper vessels, later it would be a must do for you to check prices.

Hi peeps, I'm really finding it hard to start elite with the base sidewinder in the starter system asellus primus with the horizon season pass, what would you recommend I do to make enough credits to upgrade my ship? What is good in my jump range???

You just need to take on ANY and ALL trade/transport missions being offered to you. Your goal should be earning enough credits to purchase the Cobra MKIII and spending $$ on upgrading that ship. That will give you the jump range you need to start moving out from your starting point. From there, it is a matter of deciding what role in the game you want to focus on first. This will dictate which ship to shoot for next.

The ASP Explorer is a very popular choice with a good chunk of the player base. Its what we call an "All Rounder" and can do most activities in ED fairly well. It is still considered by most to be the best Exploration ship in the game and has one of the highest jump range potentials in the game. (Close to 60Ly with Engineer Upgrades)

Getting out of the starter systems is one of the more time consuming tasks you will ever encounter in the game, but those who take their time and not try to rush through this process will come out on the other side a lot more prepared for what awaits them than those who try to blast through it all just to buy an Anaconda before anyone else. ;)

When I was first starting out, I avoided combat for the first month and instead focused on Trading and Exploration to earn my credits. It wasn't until I had bought my first Asp X that I started dabbling in combat related activities, and only jumped in with both feet when I purchased my first Python. :) (I am now Triple Elite in the game, which includes an Elite Combat Rating with the Pilot's Federation)

Obviously, this is not the course everyone takes, but I didn't loose a ship in all that time, and got very proficient at evading interdictions. :D

I've got close to 10,000 hours invested in ED over the PC and XB1 versions, so I do have a little experience with this stuff. :)

don't forget

3.5 When selling a ship, go into outfitting and store all the mods you have purchased for it. The game automatically replaces those mods with E rated baseline mods. Now when you purchase your new ship, go into stored mods and see what you can re-use. Comes in handy when the station you are at doesn't see the module you want to replace. If the mod doesn't fit or is too low, sell it from your storage.

Hey JimJoBlue - I have two play-throughs that should help a whole lot!

How To Play Elite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyII7yw2sN0
Two Guys In Space: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcdI0yaCTC4

I also have a new PS4 version coming soon

Basically, you can easily go from Sidey to Hauler to Cobra to Type 6 in under 8 hours if you want to haul cargo and trade.

You can also go from Eagle, to Imperial Eagle to Viper MK3 etc bounty hunting in High RES areas if you prefer combat.

And if you want to make some big money keep your eye out for CGs close to where you are - you can easily make 5 to 15 million on a good CG which can help you buy a DBX for exploration, or Vulture for Combat, or multipurpose Python, etc etc.
