Newcomer / Intro finding Mission Objectives

Hiya,

I am having trouble tracking where to go or atleast a rough estimation of where to go.

I arrive at the system and i just have no clue on what to attack, there is no indications what so ever and i am not asking to be guided to targets i got to find, but atleast have blue writing or something saying 'mission target' or something like that.

It just frustrated me beyond belief and i just quit the game, i am thinking until i can figure out how to find things or find an option to track or they add in that feature, i will stick to watching youtube videos of people playing it, it looked FAR more easier and fun watching a video, which is normally not the case.

Oh well.

If the mission is ''kill 5 pirates'' or ''kill gen. whatshisname'', then fly to that system, stay in supercruise (lowest speed preferably) and wait for USS (unidentified signal source) to pop up. Fly to those, wait till its safe to disengage, disengage, see if your target(s) is/are there, if not, back to supercruise and find other USS.

I can give it a try.....i know for sure, i can't use my joystick, its too weird, mouse and keyboard is fine, with assist on, so i know for sure i will not be good enough to face players, so its solo mode for me.

Hey man, im super new but thought id chime in.

the mouse and keyboard from what ive read are more effective in combat than a stick setup.
so for those going purely for combat they tend to use the kb/mouse as a form of enhancement or "cheat" as i like to think of it..

I also am struggling to find stuff to do, but through reading forums and watching videos its pretty straight forward.

i think a big part of this game is exploration and waiting...
which should be fun, if it isnt the game may not be for you...

im on the dk2 and find anything in game truly amazing. I hop to a system, planning on going to Unidentified source and find my self just doing random stuff like going too close to the ball of fire or just testing equipment keybinds, voice attack, etc.

or just attacking the first thing i see.

i just found out the difference today between npc and player haha and also how to find the mission objectives...

oooo, great read!
(i cant link the thread cause im new, but look up this post thread)
NOTHING IS TRUE, EVERYTHING IS PERMITTED

great quote:
"
Elite Dangerous is different. You have to accept that (or move on, there's no shame in not liking a game, I threw away Force Unleashed after two days). A lot of things may come that change the game, but at its core it will remain very different from most current mainstream games. Why? Glad you asked.

Personal opinion ofcourse, but what i have seen between CMDR's is that people that play with stick (and set up both engines & thrusts correctly) they are way more agile then the kb/mouse player. The shooting itself is questionable. :)

If you think that 'waiting' is a big part of the game, then i don't think we are playing the same game lol. The reason i love this game is that there is no waiting. You can do whatever you want, and if you think it's time consuming, you can always just pack up and move to do something else. No waiting required. ;)

The Federation is always looking for fanatic players, consider them! ;)

haha, ya i guess my word choice was a bit off..not really waiting but patience maybe. and the understanding that there is a bit of labour involved

what do you mean by fanatic players and federation??
