Horizons Finding out how much exploration data you have onboard

I am on a nice long run exploration mission currently. Is there anyway of finding our how much exploration data I have collected so far? Cant find it anywhere except when i dock at a station and try and sell the data

no.

if you noted down how many systems you visited before leaving, you can look how many systmes you have visited on your current trip in right hand panel, and if you have some experience, and know your average exploration data per jump from previous trips (depending on exploration style), you can make an educated guess. i for exampel make between 10k and 20k per jump, depending whether i fly my anaconda (less fuelscooping, less primary scanning) and 20 k per jump in my DBE (more primary scanning while fuelscooping) - and can get that up to 40k per jump if i scan all high metal content planets in 500 ls and all gas giants under 2000 ls.

or you can use a third party tool like eddiscovery or captains log, annotate your findings, and calculate from there.

exploration earnigs depend on first discoveries, too - and there is no way to know whether you are the first one to had in a system.

Thanks for the tips guys will look at that - maybe its a MOD that Frontier could look at -afterall you can see everything else you carry in your inventory and status

I use an excel doc. Some figures are guesses as I don't always check first discovered or not.

Basically the top bit is the count in numbers.
The bottom bit is that count multiplied by the values in the 2nd spoiler link above with a sum total below. Underneath that I have a "profit from Planets" and a "profit from system maps" with a grand total.

Generally I estimate about 12,500Cr per system map based on my 2 previous trips netting 15,397Cr/sys and 20,400Cr/sys (with planet scans).

what is it with discovery credits? I don't understand.

Ok so you know how sometimes you find systems where there are things there but they arn't on your map?
Using that honking thing called a discovery scanner adds them and you can sell that data at Universal Cartographic at stations 20ly or more away.

But that only shows things as "unexplored", to get the real data, as in my link above you can fly up close and scan the planet (ideally with a detailed discovery scanner - more info and more credits).

If the things have never been explored by anyone when you sell the data you'll have your name added, this is why some system maps have planets and stars that when you hover over them you'll see "First discovered by cmdr (namehere)". Getting first discovered gets you a 50% bonus to that planet or star's worth.
The green numbers are a detailed scan, the red numbers are first discovered.
