Newcomer / Intro Finding Place To Sell Platinum

I found some Platinum last night and could not find a place to sell it. Seems no matter where I go I look in the commodities market and never see it there. Am I missing something, there a better way to find places to sell certain cargo?

Still a rookie myself, but if you open the system map, you can browse through the various stations and see what kind of economy they have. I'm not sure what economy will have highest demand for platinum, but I suspect an industrial or high-tech world will want some.

Wait, when you say "found", do you mean you found it literally, drifting in space and you scooped it up? Because if that's the case, you can't sell it at the commodities market, you have to find a station with a black market, since this stuff is marked as "stolen" (see in the right panel in the cockpit, cargo tab) if it says "stolen", you might get into some trouble. If you are being scanned by the cops, you will get fined, and platinum fines will be really expensive.
The black market is in the "contact" tab in the station, lowest entry, below "Combat bonds". Only some stations and platforms have them.

As long as you move stolen goods, you are a smuggler, so try to keep away from the cops.

Damn... yeah it is marked as stolen, forgot all about that. I'm still not sure I agree with cargo getting marked stolen automatically. I was just searching an unidentified signal source and there was several there just floating in space. Hardly feel like I stole it.

Yep.
It seems anything you find floating in space is classed as 'stolen' when sucked up into your Hold. I think this means you can be classed as a smuggler by scanners and security will try to interdict and attack / fine you.

Most stations and service hubs carry black markets from my little experience, go to:
Contacts>Black Market>I want to sell items on black market>Select item>Select quantity>confirm sale.

Hmm deep space salvage rights don't seem to apply in this universe I had to find an escape vector for 4x lowly wine canisters. I knew they were trash when i picked them up. Selling them for 53creds a pop roused me into a bloodthirsty rage
